Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Demons to go cap in hand to AFL

If you did not think we were in danger of becoming extinct, maybe this article will help you wake up and smell the coffee.

My solution:

1. Get rid of Neeld now. The cost of doing this now will be far less than the cost of not doing this.

2. Replace the board with Jeff Kennetts ticket.* (Assumes JK ticket of quality Melbourne Members and endorsed by PJ and AFL)

Outside of this happening, I fear the worst.

How are we paying out the coaches contract? How are we paying for a new one who will possibly command a higher wage and higher wages from more established assistants?

What is Kennett's ticket, mandate and solutions for our current situation?

Zero chance the MFC folds.

Fold no, but I actually think relocation is not impossible. We are pretty well in the [censored] at the moment.

The cost to the club for complete on-field failure cannot be understated. Add to this the cost of losing players come season end and thus the likely continuation of on-field failure and you quickly can understand why it is more expensive to keep Neeld than dump Neeld.

Neeld was the boards choice. They are responsible for him. They must pay the ultimate price for their utter failure. Outside of Debt Demolition (which was the great man) this board has horribly failed. We are on our knees under their watch. They must go.

I agree we need to hear more about the Kennett push, but if done right.................. it genuinely excites me.

Kennets just been endorsed by the AFL to throw his hat in the ring, these incompetent fools need to stand down immediately , time for change, it was only a few weeks back that Don said CS polarises the supporters, well sir it's time to look in the mirror.

Hi all,

The GF works for the AFL...she cannot elaborate due to confidentiality but says we are not going to go under thats for sure!

She has a chat with Emma Quayle too on a few occasions so seems to get the good oil here and there.

I dont follow Emmas status..BUt I assume she doesnt have it in for us like Caro...

I have heard its going to get messy with Mark Neeld Though....I hope not..we dont need more blood..

Cheers

Seriously narrow thinking here. The board should go first, and I would in no way endorse a Jeff Kennett ticket. Remember, Kennett has commented multiple times that we should be moved to Tasmania or even merged with someone. You want this guy to run our club???

I'll trust in Peter Jackson to make the right decision regarding Neeld. I think he has already made one positive call, that is to restructure the football department structure first, then once all that is sorted out, then determine if Neeld is the right coach. Also, I pose the question that Garry Lyon posed on Footy Confidential earlier in the week. What happens if we win a few more games in the second half of the season? What happens if we beat other teams in similar list positions to us like Bulldogs, GWS, GC, Brisbane etc? What happens if the effort continues to improve and losing margins against good sides starts to drop???

What then??? Will everyone's opinion of Neeld still be that he can't coach BECAUSE he has only beaten the lesser teams.

With a healthy list, we are a chance to 4-5 games in the second half of the season. So what happens if we win 3 or 4 and finish with possibly a better win loss ratio than last year.

But wait......the sky is falling, the sky is falling!!!

Your support for Neeld is amazing.

Yes, the sky is indeed falling in on the MFC. Mark my words, our future is far from safe. How people still assume everything will just be alright is beyond me. Once we are insolvent, the AFL can do what it likes with us. We are close to insolvent.

After mondays thumping the changes will start.

This board is dysfunctional. Has been since Jimmy went down.

I say that sadly but it is true.

Monday must be Don's last speech, you cannot keep going to the AFL asking for help.

WE Gave them $5 mill plus 6 years worth of funds.

WHERE IS IT NOW??

I'm just amazed that people are continuing with a view that sacking the Coach is the first thing that should happen when Jackson has already identified that the structure of the football department has serious problems, and we all know the board is just incompetent.

It's amazing what can happen with those issues are dealt with first.

My support for Neeld is not unwavering. If post the football department being sorted out and the board being fixed up, and the culture of the club being sorted out, we continue to lose by big margins to struggling teams (not ladder leaders and premiership contenders), then I will join the chorus for change regarding the coach.

The reason I stated that your view was narrow is because it completely disregards the other factors that have contributed to the lack of success for the club. Unless those things are fixed first, it is irresponsible to put all the blame on a coach working in an environment that is completely messed up.

I'm NOT saying that I think Neeld is not part of the problem. I'm saying that there are clearly other factors contributing to the failures of the club, and until those things are fixed it's too early to make a call on the coach. By the sound of things Peter Jackson is also thinking along these lines.

I would love to know how the structure of the football department is affecting players ability to compete, kick, run, mark etc. got me totally baffled.

Aside from any issues with the FD, coach and the board, I wouldn't trust Jeff Kennett (especially his mouth) as far as I could throw him.

How about, for every problem, we stop latching onto the first option that comes up?

This would have more to do with having an inexperienced list. They don't seem up to the pace of the AFL game yet, but it will come with time.

So will old age.

50th on Sunday...Whilst at school kids laughed at me for being a Demon in the 70s.

Now they laugh in sympathy, & we are told to be patient.

Why do our players not seem to be up to AFL standard?

Why should we accept this season after season??????????????????????????????

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
