One thing in his favour is that he is a Demon.

I also reckon he is a bit more low key than Kennett and less likely to come out in the media and say idiotic things.

Outside the box?

We have a AFL paratrooper as CEO.

We do not need someone as President whose loyalties do not lie with the club. We have impressive individuals who can help steer this ship - some of them are on the board now. We do not need someone who flippantly suggested we be relocated and merged on two separate occasions. He has not had the best interests of this club at heart and has only recently found his own ego big enough, and bored enough, to think he is the best thing for an afterthought like the MFC.

He is toying with our club right now and some are falling for it.

Jackson is the person to run the MFC but the patrons - the board - will be Demons.

I am not about to let the ship be steered by a Hawk.

What a lot of alarmist dribble rpfc, how is he toying with the club, I don't care if he follows the hawks, I bet Jesse Hogan didn't follow Melbourne, jeff is experienced, passionate, believes in the brand and demetriou has even got behind him, all this talk of ego, I reckon he's worth a go, we shold all be happy that a former premier and president even has an interest in us at the moment

He's not 'worth a go.'

And plenty of influential Demons have 'interest in us' but like Stockdale, and not Kennett, they don't need to have their name, opinion and public slagging in the public sphere.

You know what RPFC...maybe they bloody well ought to...get out in the open, show us their passion instead of being another man in a blue tie !!

Im tired of all this behind closed doors, secret handshake stuff, .. Macguire said show us the money.. I say show us then non-anonymity, show us the passion, show the "self"

and do it bloody quick.

The problem with this club is its so all rosey rosey , nudge nudge say no more.

And it just isnt..its an absolute cokk up !!

Totally agree. We need Movers & Shakers to rattle the MFC Cage...Long as we remain at the G with the same home Jumper.

Go for it...

Kennett seems to have proven his allegiance to Hawthorn would be a negative factor at the MFC. The article announcing he has paid for a MFC membership makes it clear that if it was in our interest to poach Buddy, it would be against his 'hopes' for us to do so.

"I hope Buddy stays at Hawthorn as he has always said he is going to be a one-club man," Kennett told 3AW. "

I'd have been more impressed if he used the opportunity to say that if Buddy was what the MFC needed, he'd leave no stone unturned to get him to the Demons.

We don't need Buddy (at least not at the price it would cost) we need mids. A graders. A pair of them.

I'm noncommittal on Jumping Jeff, but that comment isn't unreasonable. It's also selectively quoted.

I had always thought that the idea of Jeff K being President of the MFC was a joke.

As only someone who is truely Red and Blue should have this important position.

Personally I would rather have my dog, Osman as the President of the MFC before Jeff K.

Yeah, let's have a real sh!tfight.

That will bring this shrinking, fractured club together.

Let's burn these people that give up their time and effort and work for nothing but the love of the club.

Rip. Them. To. Shreds.

doesnt need to be a sh!tfight. But currently theres nothing but ...well...NOTHING.

We, the members deserve better, especially considering the farce that is this club , to be treated continually as mushrooms.

I applaud anyone who has enough gumption to come out and publicly declare an interest in helping this club.

Befoer you or anyone suggest we have been continually updated I only need draw your attention to the "on one hand annoncements of particualr ideoligies" ...only to have the opposite happen.

We in fact are told very l;ittel by the current overseers of this club that is either true or relevent

That IS the cultuer of this club...Denial and mismanagement

Ever seen Buddy in the midfield? he's ripped the game apart the few times he's played there.

Maybe, but are you going to pay 1.5 mil for that? And start him there each game?

From a marketing POV he'd be a catch. From a fixing the holes in the list POV he'd (hopefully) be well down list.

I'd love him at the club, but after hard core forward drafting that cost us picks and $$$'s, and actually seems to be a positive, Buddy would be overegging the pudding at the expense of much greater needs.

I'd take Jeff over Don at the moment. We do seem to have a few people putting their hands up.

He made some interesting comments in response to the crap about his not being a member/supporter. Raised my opinion of his candidacy quite a bit.

I keep on telling you why there is nothing and you don't want to hear it.

Our Demons you want to hear from do not want to give any ammunition to the papers and in a rare, if small, mercy for theis club - it's influential supporters are going to the club RATHER THAN THE PAPERS with their help.

Paul Gardner was at training a few weeks ago, Schwab instituted a series of mornings before training when former Directors and former coterie members were invited down to the club, Geoff Freeman has come forward and onto the Board and onto the task of reviewing his fellow Board members, and, now, former Director Alan Stockdale has been approached about a return.

All this is occuring but not in the papers, so you don't know about it. But just because you can't see it, does not mean it isn't happening.

The Board will get renewal and it will do it without the need for the burning of former Board members and the airing of our dirty laundry in public.

Wouldn't pay the $$$'s either, but he would be one of the best mids in the comp if played there.

well done RPFC...completely missed the point havent you.

There is the WHAT...and there is the HOW

you seem most concerned with the HOW. I.e the migration of one board to another.

Just about everyone else is more concerned with the WHAT i.e WHAT The...does anyone stand for and WHAT will they do. The silence is deafening.

Its got nothing to do with ammo for the papers , they find out or invent what they will anyway. Its about Potential candidates for votes telling us voters what they are about and how they see the club , and what they intend to do about it.

Theres more than one bloody election this year. Ones a foregone conclusion... the other, well no one at Red and Blue land should get so smug as to think ANYTHING is fait acompli !!

Here is something I have posted before and you have missed apparently - there are no wholesale Board elections at the end of the year.

The renewal we will get will be a nod and a handshake - the way that Stynes took over from Gardner. Do you see how this impacts the 'WHAT'?

There will be no wholesale Board elections, a member petition is required. I don't know how many, I don't hav the consititution in front of me.

I am assuming by 'WHAT' you mean the direction of the club.

I care about direction I want it to be industry standard and AFL-endorsed.

Jackson is attempting to do that today. He is the one with the mandate to change below (restructure of FD, personnel, new coach) and above (him and Freeman review of how the Board is made-up).

He has the mandate and he will force his AFL-endorsed will upon the club.

There is your 'WHAT.'

For good or bad, our lot will soon be aligned with what the AFL expect of us.

I was told it was only 100 members... As an aside I was also told the cost of such an election is around 10K

Curious, does anyone have a copy of the constitution? I note that other clubs have theirs readily available online, yet a search on the MFC site returns the Carlton FC Constitution.

Greg Baum certainly thinks it is 100, but I don't believe it is so low.

And, again, I heard that the reason Szondy changed the Constitution after Gutnick left was because of the cost.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
