Ox says Neeld must go, McLardy too

Recommended Posts

I think the Ox's comments were misguided, maybe inappropriate, probably an emotional point made badly.

But he is spot on about one thing - members, supporters, theatre goers are being given nothing, abolutely nothing, to hang on to - no reason to turn up week after week.

When 60+ point drubbings are the norm, when games are shot to bits 15 minutes in, then there must be change.

if people do not want to watch the team en masse at present (myself included. The Essendon game broke me) then there is no nice way to say it.

The Ox did 3 knees playing for our club, i cannot imagine how bad he would be feeling.

Don & the Board are most welcome to buy a scarf and sit in a packed G to cheer us on but they must depart the big table soon. It will happen.

The Ox is merely trying to quicken it up.

ok, i will do this as best i can

last 6 games 2011 the board had a chance to fix some minor problems that were quite evident on and off the field

as i sat there with my best mate , we both commented this last 6 games will be the turning point , it6 was pretty obvious what the problems were and i was happy in the knowledge that it had come to a head and would be fixed asap

so here are 2013 and the same problems have arisen which couldve been fixed re last 6 games 2011

and now were back again with supporters arguing , members turning on each other and ex players putting in there 10 cents

as ive stated many times recruitment , management, fd, player satisfaction, and supporter redeement all could have been solved with a little bit of leadership and knowledge

instead were back here disliking each other AGAIN

Please expand on how recruiting, management, fd and player satisfaction are all minor probelms? They are major problems.

Our recruiting has been overhauled with a talented replacement but it's going to take a long time to see the results. List manager Tim Harrington has done a good job with contracts but hasn't got a good list, although that might be due to the recruiting and development being so bad. The development will only improve with better coaching and Bailey and Neeld whether they were the problem or not weren't the solution. We at least assembled a greater number of coaches under Neeld. But even now that will take time.

Obviously the footy department and management structure was wrong. We didn't fix that in 2011 but Jackson will fix that now (hopefully).

The thing is the club did identify problems in 2011 and have since made changes, unfortunately it looks like the changes made were worse than the original decisions. That's the great shame.

The reason why Schwarz does not need to say anything is because it is a fait accompli that Neeld will go and McLardy will step aside.

Only a very slow person would not think that Neeld is on borrowed time and that Jackson is just attempting to make the decision at a strategically beneficial time for him and the club.

As for McLardy - the pressure to step aside has been immense ever since the Schwab debacle. Reading between the lines, it looks as though Freeman is being groomed. But that can happen at the end of the season.

Hence the opinion that Schwarz is not helping - one is a matter of time, and the other looks similar but at the end of the season.'

Just support the club in public - they are doing something and it will be AFL approved.

i said there were some minor problems on and off the field

i agree that some of those are being fixed by the current FD

i also agree that time is needed to see the results of these

what happened in those last 6 games is still being paid for

whats the real answer idunno

but fighting among ourselves is not one of them

You are part of the problem....Ox speaks for the majority. Where do you think our 15-18000k supporters dissapeared to on Sunday?

Thanks for that sweet puff my counter is "you are part of the problem!" I personally was not there because like a few other fans I live interstate. Does your 15-18k numbers account for us who live outside of Melbourne. Because I have a note from my mum for why I was not there.

FWIW

If a blood letting occurs at Melbourne at this time we will be further behind and be weakened even more. I have no problems with a challenge happening at the AGM but to create Chaos halfway through a season will not do anything but stroke a few egos and end up costing more money.

I've supported this group every single game so far this season in person except the one in Perth. My whole family buys the top of the line memberships with the finals options (yes, I am normally the eternal optimist). We have donated so much $ I don't even want to think about anymore, it makes me sick, and not just during the debt demolition, the club has me on speed dial and rings with their hand out every second week!

Last week they rang on Tuesday and I told them to buggar off first time ever. After all I've given how can they keep asking me to dig deep, seriously, how dare they!!!

After the pathetic board response Monday I made up my mind Tuesday that for once I'm going to go away for the long weekend, first game at the g I've missed in I don't know how many years. My mrs can hardly believe it, she is wrapped. Further, if we don't show something against collingwood and still do nothing as a club about the board then I'll next see the boys live in 2014.

I can't keep putting money, energy and emotion into this place, I just can't keep doing it to myself or my family anymore, I can't justify it, it's not fair on any of us anymore and I have made sacrifices for this club, I even gave money I didn't really have and kept it from the mrs, it caused us real pain & these blokes earn how much to just play with effort?

It's not just that I feel let down, I am upset at myself for being so involved in this garbage, I'm beginning to hate the club, not hate as in I hate collingwood, I mean the type of venomous hate you could only feel after you loved something so much but you still got your heart torn out of your chest type hate!!

Those talking unity can go shove it up their backsides, we will never fire up again with that mindset!! How can that [censored] weak response from supporters work to fix a [censored] weak board, a [censored] weak club & a [censored] weak culture?!?!?

Or its a matter of do it now rather than cause more financial hurt later in the season FDA.

I dont c why some want to wait until the end of the season, what is going to change?

Actually, the guys fighting in Afghanistan are paid mercenary thugs who have invaded another country with supreme weapons and finances. I see no heroism in that. I truly brave person is one that says, 'hell no', what have the afghans ever done to me and my country.

In regards to the current board, they need to be overthrown, the only way you can chop down a tree, is with an axe. We need fire right now, not yes men like yourself.

thanks for your opinion, but no thanks. Your brains have been robotized. Start thinking for yourself, if possible. I know the Australian Army is designed to turn people into yes men, and you have proven that even further.

Watch your mouth when you have NFI what you are talking about!!

If you are going to the footy to hope your team lose, then you really do need help, that is just sad

Yes, that would be like tanking. Surely no one could want to lose, just to get draft picks for the long term benefit of their club.

I agree with that senitment as well though, I was disgusted we were manipulating, but we weren't the first Club to do it but hopefully the last, there are a lot of things in all modern sport that have actually spoilt it...

You know I was being sarcastic.

I wasn't disgusted at the manipulating, only that I wanted my team to lose. Anyway that has been done to death, sorry for raising it again.

er this is just footy.......nobody dies.........jesus, it is your choice to give money, like me, nobody holds a gun to your head, nobody blames you if you don't want to, but also you can't have a go at the ones who still want to, or support the Club........hate is one hell of a strong word, especially about something like footy.........

Well said mate. It is how i feel.

We are looking at a board who have no idea how to spend money when they are given it.

Change must & will happen.

Next week it will begin imo.

Stuie, who told you that, he came in once to see Don McLardy and made sure everybody knew, never heard he is mentoring forwards and never seen him doing it, he came in once to talk to 1st yr players re the perils of gambling etc, he does that as a job as well

Two great players for MFC, Robbie Flower and the Ox, one came in to chat and encourage the volunteers who were ringing around trying to get members to re sign, the other wrote an article hoping the team he supposedly loves gets smashed, which one would you call a Club champion?

Definitely the Ox, Robbie as much as I love him has drifted in and out of the club for years and like Lyon never has the time for what ever the reasons.

Give me the Ox's passion any day!

I'm begining to think that all you do WYL is sit at home saying all grumpy and cold saying "next week it will begin..."

So-It-Begins.gif

You'd be that friend in the car that always tries to pick when the lights change. Counting down normally from 5 to 1 and then "zeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooo [light changes] ooooooo" and at the end have a smug look and say "told you so"

Your point being????

The state of the MFC at present is disgusting. Are you trying to debate that?

I turn 50 on Sunday and i plan to party hard, so no my life is not a black cloud.

After a 100+ defeat on monday i expect changes to begin.

I call that a huge positive. So should we all

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
