Wouldn't be surprised. And if his runs with injury are still like what they are now, then I'll drive him to the airport.

We don't need another injury prone coulda-been that hangs onto the club's salary like Lyon used to.

So do you wish to drive Grimes and Dawes to the airport as well?

Salary and injuries aside, Garry Lyon was no "coulda-been"

Best and Fairest - 1990, 1994

All Australian - 1993, 1994, 1995

Captain - 1991 - 1997

Leading Goalkicker - 1994, 1995

Grand Final team - 1988

Night Premiership - 1987, 1989

Best First Year Player - 1986

Team of the Century member

Media Association Player of the Year - 1995

Victorian state player - 1988, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994 1995

Garry was no could-of-been, he is a has-been who got us Bailey and Neeld, and who picks against us every single week in his Footy Tipping comp as through he still gives a toss about encouraging our current players!

I believe Mitch Clark's contract is up at the end of next year. If I'm incorrect please advise me. With that said has anybody else given any thought that he may leave at the end of next season? I'd say to head back to Perth. Pavlich will be gone, can see the Dockers making a move. Any thoughts?

he'd be an [censored] if he did, he's hardly been on park, he owes us at least 3 good solid years

I assume he's just saying that Clark would be upset since he was considering going to Fremantle instead of Melbourne.

Yep and lets be honest he may love the city of Melbourne but everyone plays footy to win flags, play in finals etc.. Freo are heading that way and Ross Lyon has them playing good footy. Even Clark was shocked by Neelds comment a couple of weeks ago when he said something that we are still another 5 years away. Clark when he arrived like all of us saw what we thought was a pretty talented list that was close to finals. Instead we are miles away from even getting off the bottom 4. I could imagine what would be going through his head when he watches Freo play every week and beating sides like Collingwood at home and draw with Sydney on there home turf. They have an exciting list and while he is enjoying the money we are paying him it still wouldn't beat playing finals footy and being close to a cup. I honestly reckon he just took a punt with us and hoping it would pay off and everything go well for him. Remember this guy was basically at Freo headquarters ready to sign until we opened up the brief case right in front of him. I think if he had his chance all over again he would pick freo with bit less money but the opportunity of playing finals and playing in front of big crowds.

WTF are you on about!? you say that my post is worthless yet you come up with a one liner that has nothing to do what I just said and your telling me I should think before I post? bahaha talk about hypocrite! the amount of dribble you post on here I find it funny you have the guts to say what you just said.

Its not like I potted Clark anyway im just saying how I think most footballers think. I have a lot of mates that play AFL footy and even have two cousins as well playing. They will tell you most of the time that when they turned down some offers from bigger clubs it tends to be at the back of there mind when they see them going well and things aren't as going as well they would have hoped for there team. You are seriously delusional if you think clark wouldn't have that slightest thought.

and if you actually read what I wrote I never once said he made the wrong decision you muppet

There was a thread on Demonology that was supposedly citing a source at the hospital where Clark was treated as saying there is an extremely high chance that Clark will never play again. As usual, being bad news, the majority seemed to accept this as being gospel... however, that thread is no longer appearing on the forum there, so I imagine it has been removed under the "shenanigans" rule. Anyone know what happened there?

Feel the same Old Dee, I just hope that we see him next year (that's my concern).

The Club needs to make the call now. Coming back for 2 or 3 "junk time" games at the end of a nothing season is pointless, especially given that if we put him on the LTI list now, we can elevate Couch who has absolutely deserved a call up to the senior team. Also gives Couch (and Magner for that matter) a run of 10-12 games where they can prove to any interested onlookers (ie new coaches) that they deserve to be upgraded permanently at the end of the season.

It's looking that way. The problem is we have to be ultra careful and not push him too hard. If it comes it comes.

From what we've been told he had his lisfranc repaired. The repair looked in good condition but he had ongoing pain that he could play through but obviously it wasn't worth due to our season. So they thought that pain was due to the screw that whilst important in the initial repair now isn't vital. So they took it out. So what they have to do now is progress his activity whilst continually checking that everything remains structurally sound.

At the end of the day the only people who will know the real truth are Mitch and his surgeon. And none of them are talking any time soon. So lets wait and see.

Hardtack the article by Misson on the MFC website says in part

"When he’s going to be back, we’re not 100 per cent sure, but we’re conscious that this is really a career defining rehab for Mitch,” he said."

That smells like forget 2013 to me.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
