GAME DAY - Round 9

Featured Replies

186 could get a run.

200+ if Lyon keeps the foot on the throat. Sad.

Channel 7 played the 2001 game between Essendon and North Melbourne this afternoon. The one where Essendon came back from 69 points down in the second quarter.

Somehow, I don't see a repeat of that happening today.

A lucky first goal from a turnover, then TEN UNANSWERED goals.

"The hardest team to play against" sounds about as sincere as "There will be no carbon tax under a government I lead"

Both need to go

Let's face it most of their goals have come from turnovers as well.

Why on earth does the MFC Board persist with a coach who so clearly is failing? The players are nowhere near as bad as this.

oh my god, we kicked a goal! 67-13

I think I worked out our game plan - handball to a man under pressure until the team loses possession

I think he's putting a show for his new employer!

That's precisely what he's doing.

and they very quickly reply 73-13.... sigh

No inside 50's 13 minutes in...

No inside 50's 13 minutes in.....

:-(((((((((

Lol, the communication are down in our coaches box, probably explains why we have played a little better last 3 minutes.

Has a coach ever been sacked at half time??

Neil Balme (i think) about Round 10 1996 at Waverley Park i believe .... Diamond Jo met with him during half time to deliver the news (someone else may know more about this ...i was probably half plastered on the day lol but that's how i remember the call when listening on my tranny. I think it was KB calling the match)

Sad thing is... I called it. There were very satisfied with themselves last week and have let themselves go to sleep.

Peter Jackson, I implore you. Ron Joseph sacked Gary Buckenara while he was up there as a temporary CEO. There is a precedent there...

I've had enough. Get rid of this bloke. He is killing the football club.

P.S. Funny how SCH, Jumbo and so on don't make appearances during these game day threads.

I think we may be seeing the last of Mark Neeld this weekend..with Hawthorn and Collingwood to come, the carnage can only get worse. Change is a must...our club is dying!

Watts was pretty much the only bright spot for that quarter. Attacked the ball and was involved in our only string of uncontested play (Davey, Watts, Dawes, Howe), where Jetta again failed to attack the ball when it was kicked to him at the top of the square. Davey also failed to attack the ball in a separate incident.

Probably trying to impress his new employer ;-)

Lol, every one of our players in the D50 and they mark it on the goal line, fairly uncontested really.

Joke

Communication has been down since round 1..... 2012

As a 50 years + demon supporter I am starting to believe "enough is enough".

Another failed experiment.

Time to move on - but to where ?

Some of our players are not even VFL standard.

At least their supporters are elite.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
