I'll admit, i was a pretty big fan of Shiel's. But for the price GWS would command in a trade, he simply isn't worth it.

Extremely overrated for his output as a Giant so far.

Would rather use that pick on drafting Brayshaw to be honest.

Then again, GWS will be eager to further spread the age profile of its list, preferably with "elite" talent, and that means early picks.

Dangle a top 6 pick infront of them and it'll be fairly enticing.

Not only do they need to do it for salary cap management reasons, but it's a lot easier sending an 18 year old kid to the 2s to develop for the next 2 years, than trying to sell it to Tomlinson, Shiel, O'Rourke or Plowman, when they've already done it for a couple of years and are now getting overtures from every single Victorian club trying to lure them home.

I just hope other clubs keep their head in the sand and their picks to themselves, letting us reap the spoils.

I've heard DS wants out of GWS - wont name sources but he's keen to come back to Vic...

Probs no real new news but I don't expect him to be in Sydney for much longer (ie end of 2014) - take from that what you will

He was really keen to come to us last year because we had a great deal on the table for him but gws had the contract over him, we might have left the offer on the table.

A bloke involved at hawthorn said they inquired and were told we had offered an attractive 4 year deal and he was very interested but GWS weren't happy with it, they felt they would lose Tyson at some stage anyway and I actually think we got the better of the two players anyway.

I don't know any specifics about his contract, all I know is he dosen't want to play at GWS and will assess his options

I assume his manager will make enquires but you'd assume they'll evaluate options in September/October - you'd also assume he'd be keen to go to the bigger clubs but you never know these days!

Richmond offered a decent contract last year. They'll be willing to part with pick 8 and someone like Vickery for Shiel and pick 30. Be surprised if he's not in yellow & black.

Don't know who would want Vickery but don't think GWS need another tall forward anyway even if they loose Cameron. What else have the Tiges got.

But what makes you think GWS want Vickery?

Or that another club won't better that poor offer?

I think Shiel would rather play with the rising MFC under Roos and with his mate Dom Tyson

Richmond are going nowhere and Hardwick is average at best

Vickers is a soft dud who plays a reasonable game every now and then, usually when the tiges are well on top.

Wouldn't have him if he was free and gift wrapped.

Who did Dom live with back in Sydney? Might help us work out who he was closest to at the club.

If Shiel was interested in us after LAST year, you'd think he'd be even more interested now. Things must be toxic at that club. Imagine growing up wanting to play AFL, then end up performing in front of 5000 person crowds for half your playing life.

Any chance your source was Mark Allan on SEN. Or is it a coincidence you posted this about 2 minutes after he said exactly the same on air?

Bingo. You are spot on. I heard that too at that time. Better to state your references - particularly if you heard it on SEN. Mark Allan said it on the hour just prior to the 5pm news.

If you're talking Tyson and Shiel they are both around the same age, Tyson 3 months younger.

Is he really, I thought they were drafts apart. I've underestimated how young Tyson is for his footy.

I see Shiel was taken in the GWS 17Yr old selections.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
