Daisy Thomas and Neeld!

Jesus, draft BS has arrived early this year. Tossers kicking back and saying "get player1, player2" and so on. FFS

If Thomas goes anywhere, it will be to the blues/Malthouse. Already speculation in the press.

Clark to Freo. Oh wait.

Neeld might not be around when Daisy comes on the market.

Neeld will be chasing bigtime for Daisy though, his coaching future at our club depends on results.

So there is no doubt he'll be going for a big name.

Don't think Daisy will leave Collingwood and don't think Neeld will still be here to try and lure him either.

If the club sacks yet another coach before his contract is up, then they really are the basket case the media would have us believe them to be. Neeld has a third year to go, he has always said he was working in that timeframe and they would be insane to pull the plug on him after two years. Will he get a new contract after his third year? Who knows? It would almost certainly depend on how the team improves in 2014. As with everything he does, he has worked in a very structured way, building from the bottom up and making sure he has the foundations right before moving on. It's far too early to tell if his methods are effective.

You can never have enough class and I rate Daisy (and would love him in the red and blue next year) but surely Carlton would be chasing a KPF before chasing another mid.

Waite can't be relied on with his body deteriorating and his brain fades.

If there going to leave Hampson/Rowe there at least the 'three amigos' will have a lot of crumbs from fumbled marks. If you were a mid with the pill running forward you would be better of to kicking it along the carpet instead of in the air.

Contradicts your first sentence doesn't it?

You mean we aren't a basket case yet????

I got give a flying one what timeframe Neeld is working to. I agree we would be mad to sack Neeld after 2 years. He should be asked to leave as soon as possible.

And after 28 games with only 5 wins and this year with a % of approx. 50, we certainly know how effective his methods have been. This club can't avoid the further damage this guy is doing to the club. After following this club for 40years, I have not seen us play such consistently poor football like this. From the 5 wins we had, 3 of those have been against the GWS schoolboy invitational team, one against GCS and the other against a Danked out Essendon team last year.

I am not sure how you can make such an assessment of Neelds methods. FWIW, Neeld claimed that after 5 months of pre season that we were ready this year to show "realistic improvement". We got blown away by Port and he did not have a clue what happened. He's a dud.

You might want to take another look at the mid eighties. We were very bad then and guess what, 2 years later we were playing finals

Cameron Mooney was given this hypothetical by The Ox (on SEN last week):

If you were Daisy Thomas and were offered $900K by Carlton (versus $500K by Collingwood), what would you do?

CM: Go to Carlton

If you were offered $900K by Melbourne, what would you do?

CM: Take the pay cut

You might want to take another look at the 80s and try and understand why that was so before making naive causal relationships.

And if you were old enough to remember Rooster ( were you around then?), MFC in past 2 years is worse than any other time I can recall. We were never that bad in the 80s. We weren't good at times but not like rubbish we serve up these days.

Agree. Allegedly Daisy is getting $600k a year at the Pies. He is overpaid ATM. I would hope MFC would not waste further money by paying way above market for a player on the decline.

A player on the decline??? I understand your point about not paying overs, but Thomas turns 26 this year. I'm pretty sure he still has a few good years left in him.

It's an assessment of form not age.

Nowhere near his 2010 form. Form has got progressively worse since then.

Made the All Australian team in 2011, so reckon he went alright that year! Had injuries last year, which saw him struggle a bit. Has had a slow start to this year, again caused by off-season ankle surgery. His game last week was pretty good, admittedly the majority of his possessions were loose across half-back, but would walk into our midfield and be a massive help to Nathan Jones.

Yeah he should just want to come to MFC because we're such a successful club....

Alright so I'll just say I reckon it's unlikely that we'll snag him, but with the surgery ruling him out for 12-16 weeks it might put his market value to the pies down and allow us to come over the top with a bigger offer. My thoughts are that Calrton would be his preferred destination but they have an abundance of good mids so they might not be interested.

As always I'm sure GWS and GC will look to swoop in.

A burning question in regard to daisy Thomas and Neeld is, It appears Thomas isn't a fan of Buckley so lets say we get a few more wins a better improved performances across the season, and Daisy says cya Bucks Neeldy mate what have you got to offer me would some people still want Neeld gone or keep Neeld because he can attract a few pies players to help implement his game plan?

I guess if, as appears increasingly likely, and the wishes of an increasing number of "supporters" here comes to fruition, Neeld is no longer at MFC next year will the absence of the "Neeld's mate" lure to Thomas make any difference to the probability of his being attracted to us?

I have heard alot of people say that it's either Collingwood or Carlton for daisy in 2014

doesn't mean we shouldn't enquire but need to have realistic expectations.

That is pathetic, and sickening, Sylvia loves the club, wander down to Gosch's and say it to his face hero

+1.

Pretty sick of keyboard warriors having a crack at Col because they desperately want him to be better than he currently is able to be given a raft of circumstances.

Keyboard Warriors lol. I only stated what I personally thought of Col's future in the AFL, which I am more than entitled to, it's an open forum.

Cameron Mooney's really funny and topically refreshing.

Lets just hope that we ask him directly and not just ask his manager?

Neeld and Dawesy could drop round to his place for a coffee and innocent catchup with a chequebook :)

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season.
