Can't help but like Craig though. If neeld had said the same things I would have snapped my iPad in half over my knee

It does highlight Grimes' endeavour on Sunday, though.

No surprise, he's one of the few players with an emotional connection to the club.

Yes I feel the same. Why is it that there seems a genuine warmth about Craig but a coldness and distance with Neeld.

What's this coaching caper all about?

A popularity contest?

Yeah Neeld appears clinical and cold, Craig has the human touch it seems

People tell me that Norm Smith came across as a cold hard bastard who also took a bit of time to get his act together. That's not a barrier to ultimately becoming a successful coach.

Here is an excerpt about Norm Smith:

'Oh well, he was a terrific man, Norm... He was unique in that he ruled with a very stiff arm, like a rod, but at the end of the day he was your best friend. Forget about what what happened preceding the game, he always had an opportunity to be your best mate & put his arm around you & have a beer. He had the unique ability to communicate at all levels, Norm, in all levels of circumstances. I had the greatest respect for Norm, more than any other person in the football world, because he not only saved my career but built it into something worthwhile'

Will be our interim coach by middle of the season..........

I do get the sense that he was brought in as Plan B if the Neeld appointment didn't work, imagine having Craig and Choc Williams In the box next year?

Nice endorsement from Stewie who was a champ and one of his favourites but I've heard from others who were contemporaries of Spencer and others who were not players but ordinary club members and supporters. They were that complimentary of how he treated them. Smith wasn't interested in being Mr. Popularity and while I disagree with his sacking in 1965, he reached that point because he wasn't afraid of stepping on peoples' toes.

I wish the coaches would say "we need to make sure that every effort is made to get our players excited and WANT to play for the jumper, WANT to put their head over the ball and run flat out all game, take responsibility for their team mates and actions."

I hope they don't go down the blame game and be all gloomy this week, as I think there needs to be an element of punishment for sure and for home truths, but to also get them pumped up to actually want to win. If they're miserable and down on confidence, then don't shoot it down further. I have no idea of how I would approach the situation but I bloody hope the coaches do.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
