Time to go Mark Neeld

If Neeld is sacked, the sickening culture that has permeated the club will continue.

I heard some disturbing news today that really shocked me.

Me too.

You first.

Sorry what facts do you need? There is the AFL ladder for starters, maybe get your hands on a copy?

I think you are right about the current environment. I am serious that they all need to go, the board, prez, coach etc. To have AFL talking about stepping in is soooo embarrasing. Time for a group to step in with a clean slate and deep active passion for the club. I'm sure the current board and prez and coach all are trying to do their jobs well, but they haven't done well enough, in fact they have done absolutely terribly and should say farewell.

It's easy to point fingers, blame everyone except the people who go on rhe park and actually play... Dint let emotion get in the way, there is plenty if blameto go around

It's not just Neeld, culture changes take time, it's too hard to debate now.

We are in rhe same page regarding the board etc... If they turn their back on Neeld they should all go

I'm sorry but I have to be cryptic - I can't betray trust.

Recruits that arrived in the mid to late 2000s brought along with them an attitude of hedonism and laziness.

One prized recruit walked out from the club after a couple of years...you know who, as he couldn't cope with the attitude of a LARGE number of players.

Players (some still there, others delisted...not traded) were treated like royalty and given everything. Money, courses, facilities. They were promised games and developed poorly. Other clubs made their players get involved in community projects, our boys had mancaves with all the perks.

This instilled a poor, poor playing culture. Fitness levels fell away sharply.

Neeld has tried to address this and I'll give you only one name that he thinks will turn this around. M Jones.

I've probably said too much.

Take of it what you will....the info was from a former assistant coach and recruiter.

I think it has been well documented that the mature age recruits were brought in for their leadership qualities as well as their experience and mature bodies. Obviously the coaches would hope they would be able to make an impact in games too but they are also there to raise training standards, provide mature bodies to compete against at training, and increase competition for spots in the 22. Unfortunately these wont translate into immediate benefits on the field but long term I'm sure will help change the culture and performance. Sounds logical in theory at least!

I really wish you were correct, but sadly, the coaches got it wrong - your theory is good, but the practise of others has let you and the club down!

So there are 2 strains of thought;

1. Keep the status quo

Or

2. MFC revolution

Where's rangerover when you need him. I'd love a poll.

I think the adminstrators made it tonatopia proof. ;-)

If the board sack neeld they better have a replacement close to signed up for next year. I can already picture neeld gone and then the board fumble and stumble their way through the process and we end up with another untried coach in 2014. If the board already believe that the replacement coach is a better option then that's fine by me. But don't sack a coach in the hope that a premiership coach might say yes.

If they turned around and got Mark Williams agreeing to coach us and we beat GWS by 10 goals, would they re think it or has neeld done his dash?

Hmm, I think we knew most of this already, perhaps without confirmation. But I'm curious to know if you meant Nathan Jones or Matt Jones? I can totally understand the former but very intrigued if it is the latter.

A pretty reliable source from the inner sanctums of the MFC said that, "if we lose this sunday to GWS, Neeld WILL be sacked."

This same source last year informed me mid season that Stefan Martin had a falling out with Neeld and that he WOULD be traded come seasons end..

Obviously a handful of us already think he will suffer the same fate, but this is still a big call.

If Neeld is sack a little rumour says i won't get a new membership because the club just wastes the money.

No shite Sherlock.

Wastes money

Wastes time

Wastes draft picks

A wasted decade.

How many tens of thousands of potential supporters have we lost?

I've got my money on revolution, no more money for this board.

can you turn it into a riddle so us intelligent people can work it out?

Could just be a typo but there are some REVisionist ideas being floated around the club.

I initially thought AFL's very own George Hamilton. But it's the successor no Biffen?

A LOT of them switch teams around 10-11. It's almost a hipster thing now to support Melbourne. I'm not sure if it builds good character to the younger ones when 50 year old supporters are yelling 'That's ****ing ball ump'

lol funny you say that. Melbourne seems like the new Fitzroy, support wise. I think the contemporary Fitzroy crew are adopting it as their team. I went to Melbourne Uni in 2012, trust me, I've seen it. It's an "underdog" thing.

The club should DEFINITELY invest in the Fitzroy Brunswick Street area imo. Have a shop on Brunswick Street.

Makes sense considering the proximity to East Melbourne and that it's basically a directly line from the street to the MCG.

But I wouldn't expect the club to invest in the city of ... Melbourne. Casey makes much more sense. /sarcasm

Definitely M Jones - his attitude, (that would be expected at top clubs, btw) has been amazing and infectious.

Leader written all over him.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
