'Raising The Bar' ... 9 MFC players who must lift in 2013.

True but I thought there may a nice tie-in there between her and my 'Raise The Bar' sig.

Does this mean you don't believe in Neeld anymore?

Oh well, you can take your hood ornament to the slopes if all else fails.

"Raise the bar" is surely a chairlift phrase? No?

I thought it had something to do with pole dancing.

You are watering down the stereotype too much for my liking. I can concur that 95% plus members drive range rovers but am doubtful on their ability to land a hood ornarment of that quality.

Good thread Rangey

The thing I like most is that it focuses in on a group other than one particular player. It has the effect of sharing the blame or giving out accolades across a number of players.

We may not all have the same 9 as you but for the sake of argument it's a good concept. We could drag this thread out every now and again for a bit of a report card. A third of the way through the season could be a good time or perhaps after every 6 games.

Was thinking about Watts and how best we can use him ... his disposal is top notch and when he wants to, he reads the play very well. It's fairly obvious that the best description for him is the word 'Utility'.

As a loose man in the backline, he can be ultra important for us but I'd like to see the coaching dept. use him for all the centre bounces. There are effectively only 6 players going for the ball and often these 6 players are your more skillful types who read the play well. The chances of getting smashed at a centre bounce is a lot less than people may realise. He could drift back as soon as the ball is cleared out of the middle. It also gets him into the cauldron which can have the effect of 'livening' a player up

The reason I'm mentioning him is that our clearance work is well below par both with getting the pill and our execution when we do get it. McKenzie should not start in the middle. He should start because he's our best tagger but not for centre bounces. We're effectively one man down when he starts for centre bounces. We need our best clearance players with the most skill in for the centre bounces.

McKenzie can tag in all the other areas of the ground and for all the other ball ups and throw ins. He is still a vital part of our set up I believe, as you cannot let the opposition's best on-baller run amuck.

So I'd rotate Jones, Watts, Rodan, Blease and Sylvia for centre bounces with Watts being the mainstay. Probably Jones as well but I can't see why we can't use Jones off a wing sometimes (at centre bounces). Viney, Grimes, Trengove, Toumpas and the rest need to get better at their ball winning ability and disposal. In the cases of Viney and Toumpas a lot will depend on how quickly they come on. Viney could easily slot in with the other 5.

I'm specifically talking about the centre bounces only - of which there might only be 30 a game.

Trengove, Tapscott,Grimes ,Blease etc need to gives Jones some genuine support, and challenge him for the mantle of number one onballer.

True-and real conservatives aren't controversial. They wear tweed and don't like change.

Mostly they keep to themselves .

Neo-cons are a trashy new version of pragmatic arse lickers that want to destroy the earth and everything in it for the betterment of the oil and arms industry.

Usually of lower-middle class, they aspire to be conservative but are not moneyed or educated enough so they espouse rubbish in an attempt to appeal to old money.

Andrew Bolt for instance , no decent education, no conservative ideas, just offensive enough to keep his crappy job as Dumbo posterboy and controversy maker.

Even South Australian mental defectives like him have their minions, who must really be struggling to think for themselves.

I'm into self doubt now Biffo - you've exposed me. I have a tweed jacket with leather elbow patches and ..... the leather is Alpaca!

The Demonland Nine? Great name, but it actually applies to the nontuplet of Whispering Jack, Range Rover, WYL, stuie, Ben-Hur, belzebub59, Rhino Richards, rpfc and the new kid on the block "Bitter but optimistic".

My preferences are fairly straight. I don't bat on the same team as Stuie.

Now now Stuie, it's too late for friendly overtures. I don't wan't any of your "mate " shite. I'm just an ordinary bloke who loves his alpacas. Best you go and patch it up with BH.

That is seriously funny RR. One of the best laughs I've had in ages. I'm looking for a point of comparison. It's certainly funnier than the time I ran over a family of ducks. I suppose running over the ducks' owners would have topped it ... a close call.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
