NAB CUP 2: PORT ADELAIDE

It would be consistent effort and performance they would be looking for.

Im still backing Kent to be there round one, possibly Jetta and Evans.

Davey was good today as was Tapscott who are also chances.

What will be interesting is the big man selection, with Sellar putting his hand up today, and even Davis having a good game.

Pederson has shown nothing as yet,but Clarks injury may see a Dawes,Sellar Pederson forward line, with the poorer of the three making way for Mitch when he is ready.

"The control and tenacity under pressure in the back lines by Troy Davis, 20, drafted in 2010 at No.50 and yet to play an AFL game, was impressive, while Dean Kent, 19, added spark into the forward line." Now that is more like it Ashley

Very pleasing stat and a good answer from the kid. Tappy also good . I hope the pressure is now on for spots.

Davis has always been a competitor, but his kicking is terrible. He won't be a starter until he can get that under control.

He did well IMO. He's not the only bloke on our list with a few things to work on. Lynden Dunne is 25 and has had lots of time for example and perhaps there may be a bit of a contest for a spot coming up here. Only a practice game but you can only play against who they put before you.

"It was this time last year that Sellar kicked five goals against Collingwood in Dubai and looked set for an outstanding season, but injuries dogged him and he never really lived up to that promise" Ashley Porter

Err... don't remember that Ashley!

I think it was a couple of years back when he was with Adelaide.

Funniest thing about that is that the game (a NAB cup game) took place between Adelaide and the Pies in Dubai in 2008... and yes, Sellar did kick a few. Nice to see a journo in Ashley Porter who really takes the time to research their facts.

Pleased to see how Sellar stood up today (10 kicks, 5 handballs, 7 marks and 5 goals 1 point) but disappointed that Fitzpatrick did not feature. I suspect that he (Sellar) may emerge as the third tall instead of Pederson.

Fitzy looked a little lost

Hey Jimmy, thanks for your observations - much appreciated.

I'm interested in our style of play today. Use of the corridor? Our 2nd and 3rd efforts and how fit did our blokes look in the last quarter?

It didn't sound like we gave Port a lot of freedom to move the ball - was our defensive pressure good?

Jimmy, Davey has been a shadow of his former self for the past few seasons. What did you see today? A few good passages? Back in the day he was everywhere and involved.

The 5AA commentators gave heeps of praise to Davey and said that one of the goals he kicked was from an impossible position (local opinion).

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
