Watts almost traded?

Watts might be quick but he doesn't use his speed, especially in the first five metres.

And how bizarre is that given that he posted the fastest non indigenous 20mtr sprint in Draft Combine history. You'd have to think it's going to come.

It's a big weakness to have in this contact sport. Luckily for him he oozes class and that is what is keeping him in the team. Make no mistake if he wasn't so soft (hate to say it) he would be in the forward line, where we drafted him for- instead of being a loose back.

Rioli doesn't like contact. Hardly been a big weakness for him.

Examples ?

Bad wording, mine not yours. My opinion is a lot of the criticism is unfair, from some on here but more so from supporters at other clubs who have hardly if ever seen him play.

I Know you're not a fan and I can understand why but I think this year will see him develop further and the more physical aspects required will come into his game. I don't think he will ever be a Kenny Hunter with no regard for his own safety but so long as he goes when he has to and uses his assets (height, speed, kicking, decision making) to advantage then I will be happy with that.

That's crazy talk. You are just like the media vultures who demand he plays a higher standard than everyone else.

He finished 16th in the BnF despite missing 7 games.

His 18.5 disposals a game was the third best average at the club behind Jones and Grimes.

His supercoach average was 3rd at the club, his dreamteam 9th.

At the start of 2012, he had just turned 21, meaning he is a good 3-5 years away from his best football.

If you think he is anywhere near the fringe of the side you have no idea about football, simple as that

As is often the case I have been misquoted. I said he will find himself on the fringe (future tense) if he doesn't find another gear. Nothing ground breaking there.

16th in the B&F is rat droppings from a player with his talents, even with the 7 missed games.

Well Rangey. It just goes to show how temporary a concept fame and love is on Demonland. One moment a rooster - the next a featherduster.

All conditioned phenomena are impermanent and subject to change, BBO. In think it was Buddha who said that.

This maxim actually works in Watts' favour ... he has it within himself to set a new, higher trajectory.

He just needs to believe.

How's the cheersquad shaping up for this season? Got all your stocks of tape and crepe paper sorted?

Yeah I can't wait for footy to start because I love my team, and I know you can't wait for it to start because you love to complain...

I don't love complaining. But I do like to see reality as it is and not guild the lily.

We will go into 2013 dismissed as a bottom four irrelevance. Only serious improvement across the board will pull us out of the mire.

The old "reality" or "I tell it like it is" excuse is the best friend of the constant complainer... But we are in agreement on the second half of your post good old RR.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
