CAC was a sort of infrequent regular here..

Schwabby , a couple of times.

But they are the ones we KNOW

Not even that many. The Chairman, Schwab and Bailey must know and I suppose CC. Nobody else.

If anything is in writing it's keystone cops stuff.

If you want a harmonious coaching box the assistants have to know.

I think all the board members have to know too - it's a pretty important strategic matter - they're giving their precious time FOC - if it was me and I strongly disagreed with the strategy, was not included in the decision and found out it happened I'd be ropeable - plausible deniability or not.

All the people who need to know must have skin in the game - it seems we had people who knew but who really had no influence or skin in the game.

But our opinions count for nothing really. What are we going to do, stage a sit in and demand an election.

You place far too much importance on a fan forum. Demonland is like Big Footy - it gives us a kick but the outside world see it as a joke and a pretty unpleasant one at that.

Last year on the WILSON thread, Ben_Hur had this to say to you about a salient point you made to him some time ago: -

Have you forgotten about the importance of the written word, which is why you took the time to stand up for the club under adversity ? It was a salient point you made to me many years ago. You were talking about on-line criticism of the club and the adverse impact it could have.

Of course you favoured the Board in those days.

Demonland is a very good place to gauge opinions & emotions from a club perspective.

We are all paid up members who contribute 12 months per year.

If i was on the MFC board i would be a reader for sure.

Similar to ratings on TV. A sample Audience will be expanded to gauge the mass appeal or dislike of certain shows.

the main audience, for Melbourne demons passionate supporters, there would be nowhere better to gauge.

Well we better be sure to NOT do anything against our elected Board members at all, or prior to the AFL handing down they're ironical dee-terminations.

some who new,, but with no skin it seems, in the games? > the AFL Commission today, & for the past 12 or so years.

who's skin will the AFL Commission wear, masquerading,, when tomorrow comes?

We are a focus group, all with one common interest, the MFC.

I think you'll find in the main we are considered a rather ignorant group of footy tragics who speculate on things and offer little insight. But if you want to pump up your own tires do so. I

Would you not concede though that its as good a place as any to sow a seed ??

No, I think it's a pretty stupid place to start. Just read this thread.

Was it here or 'ology that Craig Cameron used to visit at draft time and if my very dodgy memory serves me right I think Cam Schwab came on here as well .

They may read it but they wouldn't make any major decision based on what is written.

Don't agree. Libba knew what was happening without a word being mentioned, it's why Carlton are safer than us. The Board need plausible deniability, you can't have that if they all know. The decision was obvious, everyone "knew" what was going on, but the assistants and the Board needed to say "no strategy around tanking was ever discussed or mentioned".

Geez Fan, I might get clobbered on here. I am agreeing with more of what you say. As for "focus groups"???!!! Forum's of any description are about vested interest, that is why people participate in forums, as it either floats their individual boats or antagonises the BDM enthusiasts. The process of selecting focus groups is about profiling and selection, it is certainly not random. It is a bit like talkback radio hosts which claim their callers speak for the "silent majority" Absolute twaddle.

I just enjoy myself here

It's somewhat amusing to read the suggestion that if we were to have the temerity to defend ourselves then this must somehow result in bankruptcy.

...

It's a straw argument to purport we go to court and go broke. This will never go to court nor was it going to. What needed to be understood by the inquisitors was our preparedness to do so, push come to shove. I.e we were/are willing to blow a mighty hole in the ivory tower lest you back off and F off !! It's. ploy, a gambit. But it's a reasonable and real one.

I'd rather we went to court and got into financial trouble, than roll over and take it.

This is a new MFC we're seeing and I'm liking it.

i agree. If we roll over in any way to the AFL the club will die.

If it takes short term pain but the balls finally drop i will support the club all the way.

If we bend over and take a smack then it will be curtains for the MFC 1858.

Be careful. Your about to join the small group who is conspiring to overthrow the incumbent Board, replace the CEO, put the coach on notice and financially ruin the Club. Not only that but we are singlehandedly responsible for the leaks to the press of the contents of a report we don't have about events that didn't happen. Sadly nobody has been able to nail our motive yet but when they do I'm sure we'll hear about it.

I enjoy myself here as well mostly. Don't forget that Demonland is read by many but only contributed to by a few.

Perhaps Fan could suggest where else the MFC might get a free feel for what its fans (including Fan) might be thinking??

There may be reasons to give what they see here appropriate low weight and do other surveys etc, but I'd be very surprised if they didn't keep an eye on these forums. I'd go further and say they were negligent if they did not. If you think that is pumping up our tyres, so be it.

And yes, IVS, it is a bit like talk back radio. But name a political party other than maybe the Greens which doesn't take close note of the ranting that goes on there.

Well at least we know how you would value financial supporters of the club Fan.

Good on ya.

Training notes, every piece of club media debated and discussed on here and you dismiss it.

It gives a pretty good insight into what people are thinking on all levels.

Can be read anywhere & is always growing.

Spot on.

Political parties follow the media trends daily to gauge perceptions.

People are paid to listen & watch.

The MFC can quietly oversee this sight for nothing.

Yes but Polls are meaningless! aren't they?

or is it only the polls at the AGM?

 I feel dizzy, Which party are we anyway? spin, spin, 'oh' the AFL party, thats "right", or was that all thats 'left'??? :(

Bring IT On!

Im not sure it will be curtains if we bend over but I have supported this club through good times and bad and good decisions and bad decisions - rolling over would rate as the worst decision I can remember

(disclaimer - I need to temper this by stating that I am basing this on media reports of the evidence to hand - ie no smoking gun - just evidence of positional moves, rotations, silly CC comments, fumbling and Jack Watts not playing and missing out on the brownlow )

From the regular member surveys the MFC conducts? As for pollies, say no more. Pollies are more interested in what their opposition counterparts may be saying on the public airwaves. Besides, Political parties monitor all media, not just talkback. More importantly, they do their own "private" polling.

I simply make the point, vested interest forums do not necessarily speak for the majority. They are simply there for the entertainment of the participants.

They are a cross section of the supporter base.

If you were looking for feedback on any proposal you would look to your own first, surely.

Yep, I can just imagine someone saying 'lets topple Don and oust Cam. But first lets ask the people on Demonland what they think".

Robbie read this thread and tell me what you think sophisticated thinkers would think.

If you think you're insights or mine would be of interest you're dreamin'.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los
