End of year magazine

Just got it in the mail today. Interesting read, nice tribute to Jim and also Slug jordan and dudley. Even got some recipes in there from players.

Neeldy wrote a bit about the darwin camp and according to him there is a great buy in from everyone and we will be ok.

Schwab explain what the gold stars on our jumper means. I think he must just sit at his desk and ponder what designs he can do or what clothing he can bring out.

But interesting that Don said melbourne supporters convert to membership at a higher rate than any other club. Really? Also mentions it was JIms aim to get to 40,000 members. Hopefully we can get there.

Not on your Nellie. Give me the Spag Bol. any day.

Forget the the Veg. That's why they can't put on any muscle.

I tell you it's even worse than the Lite n easy I'm on at the moment.

They have carrots in every meal. I used to like carrots, but now avoid them like the plague.

I wonder how much this costs to send to 37000 members?

Honestly I would be happy with an email or the info on the web site.

Now don't accuse me of being negative but do we need a book like this sent to us via snail mail?

Last century method of communication is what I see.

I would rather the club spend the money on the FD or somewhere else

I will still be a member wether this book comes or not

It's one book to each household so you would easily cut that figure by half, if not more. Having said that I agree it could be optional and I nominate you to tell the club.

It's an interesting point, much discussed within marketing and advertising agencies ... but a hard copy version is a completely different reading experience. There are still many people (me included) who would prefer to have and hold the real thing, even if the info is available online.

C'mon Bingers - get with the 21st century. We should be prepared to use the electrons these days - for the benfit of the club.

Cheers

I like my magazine and if they stop producing it I will 'microwave' my membership ^_^ Next thing we won't get an actual membership card - they'll scan one of our eyes so we can get in ...that will cut costs !

Magazines just aren't the same online . There's no sense of ownership . You've gotta have quality magazines on the coffee table for guests to peruse - GQ, Vanity Fair, Esquire, Heartbeat ...

I like Mitch's Pizza Recipe....

Method:

put as much or little of the toppings on as you like....

Yeah, not sure what to make of those James Frawley 'protein balls' either ! Ridiculous concoction if you ask me ... who could possibly eat the ghastly items ?! If he wants to rediscover his dash out of defence he should steer clear of those monstrosities .

The thing to understand is, we basically operate as a "charity". We rely on people putting money in in a similar way, and having had close experience with the PR dept of one of Australia's largest charities I can tell you that you need to understand that things like the magazine would be part of our budget for raising money. So instead of looking at it as purely a cost, it's actually a key element in producing income for the club.

What's on a Collingwood supporter's coffee table since Ralph ceased publishing?

Sounds fine to me Macca.

I have always wanted to try my eyeball on one of those scanners.

Seriously I don't mind the magazine I just wondered at the cost and necessity in the 21st century.

Seems lots of people are still in love with it.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
