Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Get off his his back guys! I have no qualms about Silvia's contribution next year. Why don't you focus on Sellars (former top-ten draft pick) and what we can expect from him?

A It's SYLVIA,B: We didn't use a top 10 pick on sellar and he hasn't been on our list for 8 years.

He is like the hottest girl at school, you keep falling for her, hoping she takes you to the dance but always manages to break your heart.

Love it !

I am the hardest on Col of any player on our list simply because he has all the tools ( talent-wise) to be in the top 10 footballers in the AFL and for the length of his career has yet to be in the top 200.

Col Sylvia knows exactly where he is at, but which bit of he needs a completely uninterrupted pre season doesn't everybody get......he has great explosive power but if you can't maintain your fitness it loses it's edge.....I am sure Col like everybody else is desperate to get through preseason and the NAB Cup and be fully fit and firing for Rd 1......after what we have seen this post season, if he doesn't he won't be here next year.......simple really

You are so blinkered its unbelievable. You clearly don't watch Col closely. I do and his second and third efforts are non-existent. One f the laziest footy players we have.

As for his 'pre-seasons' and your excuse for his lack of consistent form he has played over the past 8 years the following:

17 Games

19 Games

15

17

18

16

17

16

3

Yeah poor bloke hasn't had a chance to string meaningful games together. If only he stay injury free in the pre-season he will be a superstar.

Dream on.

He's flat-footed. He doesn't attack the ball enough and sits back and waits too often. His 30+ possession games are too rare for someone who has all the physical attributes to be a star.

In 138 games he has had exactly 6 30+ games.

Wow. Post of the year. Col is a potentially elite, talented mid and Sellar is a cheap pick up role player to cover for the fact we lost Warnock. You nailed it there with that comparison.

BTW Sellar came 15th in the Bluey vs Sylvia 12th (1 more game). So arguably that had about the same year in the eyes of the coaches.

I do believe Colin at his best for 22 matches. A huge season.

He could pick up votes, alot of votes.

Colin at his best is a complete game breaker and changer whic would see him pickup votes

I do believe he has a much better chance of achieving said success with the current FD driving behaviours. I don't doubt his talent completely but more his application and ability to become consistent.

We wait and see.

Great analogy Philthy but I think Col has disappointed more than that. She is the hottest girl, the best dancer, has a naughty streak that promises good times and she says yes to going to the dance. Then, on the night, she doesn't turn up and you are stuck dateless and with the limo bill.

I'm trying to think of examples in any sport of a talented underachiever who has then had some sort of revelation and gone on to be the best in their sport.

I fear Colin will always be one of those players we tell our grand kids about with a sigh and shake of the head.

Mark Phillipousis ,.....oh no hang on I'll try to think of another....

You get guys like Frawley, who when they come to the club, show pretty much straight away what they've got, and keep giving it.

Then there are guys like Nathan Jones, who start slowly but progress on a steady upward trajectory.

Then there are ones like Bate & Morton, who show glimpses of talent but never put it together for any extended period. (Juice Newton. We've had a heap of these in recent years.)

Regrettably, Sylvia is in the latter group. The leopard does not change its spots. If he hasn't put it together by now, he never will.

Any other negatives CB? Having all the physical attributes to be a star does not mean that one will be a successful footballer.

Flat-footed, ha ha ha. Good call

At least he gets 30 possession games!

How about we let him sweep across half back, joel Bowden style so that he has more 30+ possession games.

Goldfish.

The footy dept are clearly qualified to get him fitter and stronger than he's ever been, but (I want to be wrong) I sense he doesn't have the goals and dreams that transfer into what we saw from the Swans recently.

C'mon Col you have around 5 years to make a lasting impression at the MFC. If this year, allowing for a good run with injuries you're unable to become a vital component in this team then come 2014 you will struggle to make a lasting impression in your new team.

Grimseyisgod' can you tell me the year that he has done this in more than 3 games in a year?

For the life of me I cannot remember the year.

2011.

Melbourne v Adelaide. 26 disposals, 4 goals, 7 marks and 9 tackles.

Goldcoast v Melbourne 31 disposals, 7 marks, 7 tackles, and a goal.

Melbourne v Richmond 29 disposals, 4 marks, 4 tackles and 5 goals.

all those matches he got a total of 8 votes.

If he can hit that consistently, hell dominate

A self obsessed piece of manfluff that put it together once for Australia to win a Davis Cup.

I am yet to see Col hit any spectacular heights with his football.

That is exactly my point only 3 games in a year.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
