Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Who I am? A guessing quiz.

Geoff Tunbridge had 2 sons who were above average country footballers in the Ballarat Football League.

Peter represented the BFL on many occasions and wasn't far short of AFL standard IMO.

Its too bad they couldnt take the next step, but interesting to know that they had some talent.

Perhaps Mister Tunbridge needed to have a few more wrigglers than Mrs Tunbridge.

I had a few relatives live, when youngins. before growing up and moving to various parts of the state. (mothers side)

I heard many tales of some of my uncles bunny rabbit executions.

Any relation to the Closter who played for Geelong?

Great great uncle I believe, or something like that.

I remember Billy, he played for Redan. No joshing.

He was "drafted" (or how ever you came to a club in the 50's) to Footscray and played for the vic 2nds. He played in 2 North Melbourne reserves premierships as well.

He has a framed premiership blazer from 54 and a great photo of him and EJ Whitten both of which I hope to enherit one day the blazer is incredible

No idea what La Clementina is, even though I looked it up. I'll try Syd Anderson.

I'll agree, it was a bit too hard to search and verify with the 3nd clue, so I amended the 3rd clue. With some research it might ring a few bells.

You can have another guess, in light of the change to the clue. Its a vague clue, but someone might get it.

Plus Syd Anderson was named earlier.

Brett Bailey

Who am I ......... (1st Clue)

Who am I ......... (4th Clue)

After leaving Melbounre I went to play with Geelong. I played in 2 premerships with a VFA / VFL club.

I am .....?

Ans = Bret Bailey (fondly know to some as 'mumbles)

A utility player, Bailey was recruited to Melbourne from St Peters. Bentleigh (St.Peter / 3rd clue reference)

He played in Melbourne's 1983 Under-19s premiership and was a member of another premiership team the following year, in the reserves.Bailey had his best year at the club in 1987. He kicked the winning goal in the Panasonic Cup final and was the only Melbourne player to appear In all 25 league games that they played, which included three finals. His 486 disposals for the season was second only to Greg Healy at the club and he also kicked 20 goals. In 1990 he made his way to Geelong, via the pre-season draft, but would only make one appearance for his new club.

Bailey was a dual premiership player at Sandringham, in 1992 and 1994.

Acknowledgements to WJ who got me thinking laterally!

I agree, I think WJ was finally onto it. I was relucant to name St.Peter in that clue. I had a feeling our resident snoop dog, would latch on to that reference lol

But credit to yourself for working it out, nice work :)

Thanks Tim (good get) & Deevoted,

I was on to St. Peter's in East Bentleigh because my sons played junior footy against them and I knew the club was in Melbourne's old Metropolitan zone. When I couldn't think of a triple premiership player who fitted the bill, I started thinking of the possibility of Under 19's, Reserves and Night Premierships and I was going to go with Bailey who I knew had a record of playing in a few different (but not senior) premierships at the club. I decided to be sporting and dropped the obvious clue.

St. Peter's used to be one of the feeder clubs for our Under 19's. Luke Beveridge's parents (John & Rosa) were involved in coaching/administration and I know it produced Luke, Brett Bailey, the Fidge brothers and Paul O'Brien (so there were a few tough boys in that lot).

From doing my Supercoach / DT teams I notice there is a Tunbridge listed with the Weagles, distant relation to Geoff?

No relation.

Unlikely, a WA boy who was drafted by GWS. Been back in WA on the Eagles rookie list for 2 years.

Ah those were the days. St Peters had 2 teams running in parallel in the junior section. Played my first few years of footy there. I remember playing against Paul O'Brien who was in the other St Peters team. He was flashy and evasive and always hard to catch, until I just watched his hips. Nailed him with some good tackles after that. Fond memories of an old fashioned pie night when a few Melbourne players came down to Bailey Reserve since we were in their 'feeding' zone - Max Walker and Greg Wells (and I think either Tony Sullivan or Stan Alves??). Very early seventies. I got to play 3 games in the little league in the demons colours because of our location in their zone.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
