OK. I'm taking it one quiz at a time and this is the only question I have prepared at the moment. Correct name required.

Who am I ... 1st Clue:

I was recruited by the Demons as a 16 year old but circumstances outside football prevented my debut until after I turned 19 years of age.

I am...?

Robert McKenzie 1969-1972

Well done. It was indeed Robert McKenzie, son of Bob McKenzie who was recruited by Melbourne as a father son selection in 1967 before he turned 17 but suffered injuries in a motor car accident and didn't play in 1967 or 1968. He finally made his debut against Collingwood in Round 14, 1969 by which time he had turned 19 years of age.

He wore numbers 50, 10 and 2 (his father's number) at various stages during his career and Robbie Flower took over # 2 after McKenzie left the club and, of course, really made it famous.

McKenzie's father Bob (who was the subject of a previous quiz on this thread) played 125 games for 255 goals between 1948 and 1955 winning premierships in his first and last seasons.

Who am I ... 1st Clue:

Who am I ... 2nd Clue:

I am...?

Who am I ... 3rd Clue:

After I finished with the club one of my numbers was taken by a player who was to become one of the club's greats.

I am...?

Who am I ... 4th Clue:

My father's last game for the club was a winning grand final.

I am Robert McKenzie?

I didnt know he was involved in a car accident, or perhaps it slipped my memory over time.

I remember Robert Rose, Bob Roses' son)and the truama he went through also after a car accident.

Had a big future playing cricket and, ...... nah lets leave it there. I cant bring myself to think where he might play footy.

Next one and please don't inundate me with guesses. You need to be certain of your answer

Who am I ... 1st Clue:

I played only one game for the Melbourne Football Club.

I am...?

137 players have managed just the one game.

Potentially you could be inundated with 137 guesses.

One of my dad's good mates loves telling the story of the bus trip down to Geelong in his final game for the dee's, the story has grown many legs over the years whether it was being told in the old 'former players room' in the Olympic stand( from memory it's been a while!) or in the Coterie rooms, always around time for the trip to the Cattery. The only detail that remains the same is that he neglects to say that not only was it his last game but also his first!

So at a guess WJ was his one and only game against Geelong in Geelong? In what would have to be the 1960's?

You're not thinking of Euan Campbell, originally from Old Scotch whose only game was in Round 16, 1968 against Geelong at Kardinia Park, by any chance?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
