Just to be a devil's advocate.....

Why wouldn't it be

Byrnes - Rivers = xxxxxxxxx and

Maloney = yyyyyyyy

You'd get different bands this way I'd guess

See thread on AFL FA Compo Manipulation.

Thanks. I guess if we get pick 27 we have done pretty well. I also agree with you that pick 58 should be enough to get pederson from north considering they let Mckintosh go for 35ish was it? That then gives us 4 and 27 in the draft.

And a little timid fella at 26.

Haha yeah of course I don't count JV in the draft now he is officially a Melbourne player.

Yes, but he does count toward the three players that have to be taken in the draft.

So do rookie elevations too I believe...

Port has lost two important 26 year olds to 4 year deals. That's about 8 years of service from two B Grade players.

Poor clubs need to be looked after. They should receive pick 8 as compensation.

If we receive any more than an end of 2nd round pick (42 odd) then that's a win.

The dees should have played it smarter with Byrnes and traded a late pick for him, like port with monfries. Didn't need to rush into Byrnes with the Geelong list as tight for spots as it is. This, and talking to collingwood about Dawes for pick 13, are the two blunders from the MFC this trade period.

The only thing this thread demonstrates is the subjective, farcical nature of the way this process has been thought through and will shortly be implemented. Or as Damien Barratt would say "Rules on the run".

All for compensation but Port shouldn't get Pick 8. That is absurd.

Find a club that will trade pick 8 for Pearce and Chaplin, call the MFC and strongly urge them to spend the next week dealing with this team.

What time tonight can we expect afl to announce compo picks?

6pm apparently.

But that won't stop Damian "It's understood" Barrett from saying some nonsense with The List Manager (Wallace) from 3 to 5.

It's funny how Wallace gets that moniker when he was apart of the greatest list disaster this side of ours...

Wouldnt it be the other side of ours? has ours stopped has it?

I think we will get a early-mid 2nd rnd as our compo pick for rivers (27-35). I'd say Brynes and Moloney will cancel each other out but considering moloney won or B/F in 2011 that may push his value up so we may get another pick (late 40's?)

Pick 8 for Port is overs (I think a mid first round would be right if it was available), but I think they should be looked after.

They've been robbed of their best outside midfielder and their centre half back while they're in their prime. If Jones and Tom McDonald continue as they did this year and become good B Grade AFL players I would be livid if they were picked up by someone for free when they hit 26, and all we got back is two second round picks.

As for the trade value argument, that is completely irrelevant. Geelong would not have given you pick 40 for Rivers, Essendon wouldn't have given pick 10 for Goddard. It has nothing to do with trade value.

Wallace and Barrett on TWR are confused as anything about what is going on.

The MINIMUM given for a FA leaving is a 3rd round and Wallace said he wouldn't give anything for Murphy leaving the Hawks.

And they don't know whether there is bundling allowed in compensation - but Wallace seems to think there is.

Pick 8 for Chaplin and Pearce Terry? Really?

now the waiting begins................

Melbourne r3 pick for gaining Byrnes while losing Moloney/Rivers.

Seems a bit light on to me ...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
