Trade the pick, MFC would be looking to bring in a top 10 talent from a rival club or a combination of player/s and picks.

Use the pick, MFC chooses the most talented player available at our selection.

What would you do?

We would surely keep it wouldn't we??? we need to atleast keep one of our top 5 picks in what is considered "the best draft in history" and we should use this on O'rourke or Wines as we really still need some quality mids. i'm not fussed as to which of these 2 we get but i would prefer one of them to anybody else, unless toumpas is still available, which is higly unlikely :(

The only reason for us to trade it would be if we were to get a current superstar!

It really depends on who is available to trade for. Pick 4 should net a top player in a trade but it seems like there is no top tier players on offer so far.

Due to that I think we'll end up using it and Wines/O'Rourke are good options I think.

Put it this way: if someone said "give us pick 4 and you can have Cotchin" you'd take it.

Exactly if in the next 2 weeks, Gaff, Shuey, Dangerfield all unlikely want to come to MFC then yeah pick 4 is on the table.

Otherwise we will get the 3 best midfielder in this years draft in Macrae, Wines, O'rourke, Stringer or Mayes

Sam Mayes, Sam Mayes, Sam Mayes!! That is all I want for Christmas.

Oliver Wines is a 'don't want' for me.... The guy is tough as nails but has no X factor and is very one paced.

I just watched clips of Mcrae

I have gone from favoring Toumpas to O'Rourke to Mcrae in the last 24 hours.

I think he would compliment us best so my order of pref is now Mcrae, O'Rourke, Toumpas, Stringer, Wines

How can you possibly leave Sam Mayes out?

He is a sure fire top 5 pick.

He has everything we cry out for.... Speed, elite kicking skills (best in this draft) and x factor.

Because the others have had better 2012's Mayes had the big 2011 as an underage player and smaller 2012, still a high end prospect though and could go anywhere from 4 onwards imo

Yeah I would be happy with Mayes as well, really nice size and athlete plus he is one of the best kicks (whether at goal or to a target). Midfielders who can go forward are invaluable.

Yeah anyone know why Melbourne decided to get Barry in the min-draft and not Jed Anderson? I thought Jed was very highly rated and is an indigenous kid from NT, couldn't we have pre-selected him through the GWS zone and drafted him instead?

GWS probably would have not wanted to give us pick 20 if we wanted Jed

Most likely the GWS picks 1, 2, and 3 will be used on Whitfield, Grundy, and Toumpas. The next two best players in line for contention at pick 4 will be Wines and O'Rourke, personally I'm a huge fan of Wines who I rate higher.

If the pick isn't traded or if Toumpas isn't available I think Neeld and co. will select Wines. We hear Neeld say things like "winning the ball" and "contested footy", we also know that Neeld likes pre-built ready to go players. Wines suits his style as he is practically ready to go at 185 cm and 83 kg. He applies plenty of pressure, lays hard tackles and gets himself plenty of the contested footy. Furthermore he has a great head on his shoulders and growing up he was best mates with Jack Viney, it seems both are very competitive always striving to out-do each other and push themselves to their limits to obtain success. Something that off field will reflect highly on their training and development (may even rub off on a few other players), yet on field I could just see these to work and watch out for one another in a contested situation.

In saying all this, I do rate O'Rourke and I do like his use of the ball and outside game but as I said I'm a Wines fan.

Here are some statistics and scores comparing the two:

U-18 Championship statistics (Game Averages):

Wines (Games = 4): Disposals = 24.25, Marks = 4.75, Tackles = 5.25, Goals = 0.5, Behinds = 1.5.

O'Rourke (Games = 4): Disposals = 18.5, Marks = 3.5, Tackles = 2.75, Goals = 0.75, Behinds = 0.25.

Statistics obtained from the Carlton Draught match centre:

NAB 2012 Draft Combine Beep-test:

Wines: 14.3

O'Rouke: 14.4

I would like Grundy! But he will be gone & I would think the Dees would pass on him anyway.

Whoever Jack Viney thinks is right!!! I would leave it in the young mans hands.

Wish we traded our last #4 draft pick.

We got him because nobody else wanted him

Cannot believe he is still there

Symptomtic of the old culture really

Number 4 anybody got a comparison ??

I would like to think we could be a bit creative with pick 4. I look at picks 4-12 and think that I could throw a blanket over a number of decent names that we could pick up with that pick. Wines, O'Rourke and Mayes seem to be popular amongst demonlanders, but without any great conviction. I, personally, am more enticed by the next suite of players. The Stringers, Vlastuins and Kennedys of the world.

What would people's reaction be if we had a word in the Tigers recruiting teams's ear and suggested a swap of our pick 4 for picks 9 and 29 in the draft? From most reports, the draft is strong through to pick 30 and there's a real chance to pick up one of a number of players of the calibre of Coluqoun, Towers, Wright, Haynes or Broomhead with pick 29.

I think the seductive thought of holding a prized high pick is often far too over-rated at the expense and this year is the perfect chance to exploit this by spreading our draft risk across two solid picks. Considering that we will more than likely only be exercising 2 or 3 more live picks in this draft, I would like to think we could finish our campaign with our final pick being in the top 30.

Throw me a Kennedy and Towers in addition to our wins so far this trade period and I will sleep this pre-season one happy demon man.

p.s. Pick 20 for Dawes - Get in done Harrington!

i can 100% g/tee that a deal was done with regard to pick 13. it makes no sense that melb would give away pick 13 as well as 3 for hogan. my belief is that melb has struck a deal with GWS where melb will get the player of their choice at pick 4. Whether that is toumpas, o'rourke, or anybody else. my bet is that toumpas will be in a melb jumper if thats who they want.

I hope so, Toumpas or Macrae are my wishes and we are guaranteed to get one is the best thing *if he want them*

IMO we would be better off trying to trade #4 for #12 and #14 from GWS.

Knightmare on Bigfooty has Menzel, Membrey, Vlaustin, Stringer, Garlett and Kennedy in the 14-20 range.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
