For those who didn't know, Fox Footy are replaying the entire season.

I've watched every game thus far up to Round 4 and I've kept a very close eye on young Bail.

Here's my summation....he is a must keep.

Combative, hard at it and he doesn't shirk a contest.

Really needs to improve his tackling and (yes) his disposal can be wayward at times.

Watching these games, I see passages of improvement where our on ballers get into a contest and put in second, third and fourth contests. This is where Adelaide's improvement came from this year.

I think we're on the verge of a couple of very, very good seasons.

I know, I'm a masochist.

At the games I attended this year I found him to be the hardest chasing player in our team. I saw him sprint 200m across the field to stop an opponent on many occasions.

Another with shoddy skills. Simply doesn't offer enough at AFL level.

I agree with the OP. Skills are ok, just needs to settle down and get the decision making right.

Has speed strength, courage, speed and endurance. Durability is his drawback. With a solid season under his belt I am certain his decision making and vision would improve.

How many times did he shoot from tight angles, ignoring a team mate in a better position? Needs to "lower his eyes" or learn to kick them.

He, like Martin, does show some flashes but needs to lift hugely this go around.

Neeld is a massive fan. He will definitely stay on the list. I am 60% sold on him. I think he is a really good 17th - 22nd player on the list, but won't ever be much better.

The fact that he cannot kick is not too big a problem at the moment as most of our guys cann't mark so its a lot easier if he just kicks it somewhere where they can run onto it. Which is why we need to get midfielders who can run harder so that we can actually get tp it first.

When others were left uncontracted, Bail was offered a contract.

I can see why. He's a great runner and he gives a proverbial. These are two things that Neeld appears to rate very highly.

Very disappointed in Bail this year. I honestly thought that he was due for a breakout year, alas it never came. Still l think his appetite for the contest is fantastic and that to me is the most crucial ingredient for a footballer. Skills can be worked on and if you don't believe me remember The Duke Earl Spalding. At Melbourne he couldn't hit the side of a super tanker by foot and yet at Carlton they actually taught him how to kick the bloody ball and he became a good CHF. I would like to keep Bail for at least one more season and hope the football department put some serious work into his kicking and tackling technique.

Cant get that image of him running through the 50m arc agianst collingwood (was it in the draw?) and popping it to the square. Should have gone into the second tier... :(

An average player in a team that finished effectively last.

And to top it off he is a very poor kick.

At present he is barely above VFL level

Will need to improve massively in 2013

Well, yes and no.

His kicking needs to improve, but his thirst for the contest is fantastic. Hard as. There are a few players in our team that need some of his mongrel pills....you know who they are.

Best game we played I really thought on that wet Saturday night at the G that Melbourne had at last found the desire to play hard and try to win

Alas was not so.Would recommend all watch it to see some great play Jordie towled up Goddard Tom Mac matched and beat Nick R and Barty kicked a fantasic goal Gee i loved that game!!!!Also Bail ran as hard as nay ive seen so I agrre a keep.

Always been a big fan since his debut.

Had a pretty bad 2012, has a lot of good qualities but the way he kicks the ball means it will be hard for him to improve without overhauling his action.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record (you young fellas out there know what they are?) or usb, overhauling his action is a technical fix - his aggression, running, appetite to compete is already there.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
