According to a bloke at work Brad Green was on Radio National 927 this morning? Did anyone hear this? I have searched the web and cant find any record of it.

Apparently he had a few comments to make about the professionalism of some of his team mates.

40 minutes later and still nothing... You cant fast forward podcasts.

I had a quick skim through the podcast (you can download as an MP3). The last 15 minutes is an interview with a Lions player and then Mark McVeigh.

Brad basically said he thought there were players in our side that had relied on their talent without putting in the hard work. Probably not earth shattering news for most.

Also talked a little about Jurrah. Said he was hopeful he would be back in the red and blue at some stage, but didn't sound all together that convincing. Mentioned that with Jurrah his family came first then footy.

Sheedy said the same thing yesterday on the radio in relation to Mark Williams, family comes first if he wants to move back to Melbourne for family reasons we won't stand in his way. Will never coach again.

Mick says about family coming first but I'm guessing he will be a bit more selfish than that and will coach despite them not wanting him too.

I know things haven't been great with Jurrah but I really hope he and the club decide he has a future at Melbourne. If he comes through the other side committed to football then we will have a very special player. That commitment should not preclude him from putting family first as I'm sure we all do.

Haha I love the tanking part so great. I like how he is still travelling over to Perth with the boys and will be in the coaches box, hopefully next year he'll still be at Melbourne in some kind of coaching role or similar.

Love it how he said some people are suited to AFL and some aren't. If you don't wanna be there then just leave. Wonder who he is talking about? And yeah Liam Jurrah is probably gone.

I find it amazing that a former captain would talk about his team-mates' lack of professionalism as though he had no power to change it. If it were me, I'd be saying "When I became captain of the Melbourne Football Club, I took it as a fantastic opportunity to stamp out any hints of unprofessionalism within the playing group. It took time, but I knew it was my job to guide the rest of my team-mates and improve their perfomance as much as I could my own."

Brad Green = Not a Leader.

Leaders like Green is why we are soft.

We've had no-one who demanded respect with the balls to pull the slackers into line.

It does beg a question doesnt it.

How do you really expect people to view you ( as a player or person ) when its at the end of your career you come out with your concerns.

You can now see that a lot of players at Melbourne were simply not on the same page.

Thankgod that the culture that was is being erradicated and replaced with one that values hard work and commitment to the cause.

That's bullshiite, you can lead a person to water but you can't make them drink. Blame the previous FD's for bringing these people to the club and allowing this behaviour to develop and fester.

Green should never have led the club.

Clearly lacked respect from the party boys on the list who felt they could do whatever they liked with happy-go-lucky Brad as captain.

Another Bailey era fail.

I think this also explainsthe rude shock a couple of others ave had when Neeld came on board. Neeld sa he would watch and judge upon what he saw and not what was history ( or reputation ) Intesrestingly enough he then totally recast tehe leadersip group.

Is it also to be drawn that this has shown up some supposed champs for hatthey are ..i.e Not quie as clevr as their self written tickets might suggest ?

I wish Green well and a successful future. He'll always be welome at the club Im sure but a panned out hi leadership didt really amount to much. Mind you hes not alne and I think this goes to the ideal of the FD to run a broom through the club.

In some fairness to all ... I think much of what was wrong with Greens leadership (or lack thereof ) was simply an indication of the total lack of understanding by the then regime as to what it actually meant and involved.

We were a club adrift

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.     The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm.
