Who should we pick up?

Some trades I'd like to see happen, which keep our first 3 rounds of draft picks are:

- Stef Martin for Wellingham - Why would the pies trade a potential a grader for a player that is an in-between ruck/forward?

- Sylvia for Luke Parker - One is a highly promising midfielder that will be capable of playing consist football for a number of years the other is Colin Sylvia

- 4th round pick + Ricky Petterd for Matt Campbell - Perhaps

- Cale Morton for Koby Stevens / Andrew Strijk - Just plain silly to think any club would want Cale Morton

- Late picks for Brett Meredith, Levi Greenwood - You want to bring in two list cloggers from others clubs to clog up our list?

Realistic targets for free agency:

Jordan Russell -

Ricky Dyson -

Shannon Byrnes

Danyle Pearce

Nathan Foley

Quinten Lynch

I knew some [censored] would post this comment! Maldon primary and Castlemaine High School in the 1970's - is that far enough away from private schools for you? I am soooo sorry to have disappointed your blinkered, class-system short sightedness.

I explained my post, and you have had time to apologize for calling me a [censored] and you haven't....... all class!

I'm starting to warm to the idea of gaining both picks in the mini draft. So as far as recruits go this off season I'm hoping for.

Trade picks 3 & 4 for 2 mini draft picks being Josh Kelly and Jesse Hogan.

Secure Jarred Moore and Jordan Russell as free agents.

Trade maybe Stef Martin to get David Mackay (I remain hopeful).

Trade Ricky Petterd to secure Koby Stevens.

Package Moloney with our 3rd round pick for either Scott Gumbleton or Shaun McKernan.

Draft:

2nd Scully compo pick, either one of Mason Shaw, Ben Kennedy or Dayle Garlett

2nd round pick, Jack Viney (F/S)

4th round pick, either one of Paul Marschall, Josh Scott or Mason Wood

5th round pick, upgrade Daniel Nicholson

PSD:

If with Melbournes 1st pick in the national draft Melbourne secure Mason Shaw then I'd be looking at someone like Jake Neade

If Melbourne secure Ben Kennedy or Dayle Garlett with the first pick then I'd be looking at one of Khan Haretuku, Tim Smith or Beau Dowler.

dont like

Josh Kelly - im sick of tiny little kids that only weigh 50kg, no matter how good he is

Jordan Russel - would be good but to many deffenders

Gumby - 6 year how many games a bit of a ?

mabee

Stef Martin - for Wellingham (if Cloke goes the need a back up ruck too)

McKernan - i like but with Tippet going they might wanna keep him

the rest i agree with

Sean Dempster as a FA. Especially if we lose Rivers!

Add Shane Tuck if he hasnt signed. Durable ball winner. Great mark & kick. Very underated! FA also. Will cost not much.

Jarrad Waite???

He is lightly built but still reckon he could be an absolute gun! Another possible scenario that's been mentioned elsewhere is that we trade MD pick 1 to West Coast for Andrew Gaff which would allow them to take Jack Martin and we could still take Hogan at pick 2.

Reason for me wanting Russell are his ability to play on smalls, his running ability and he uses the ball well. He also is in Carlton's leadership group and we need leaders! Same goes for Moore as he's in Sydney's leadership group.

I agree McKernan will be tough to get as Tippett is likely to leave so Gumbleton is more likely. I agree he's injury prone but I reckon the guy can play and will back Misson in to get him up! A few other options for a tall forward I reckon we could look at Aaron Cornelius from Brisbane and Jesse White from Sydney.

Wellingham is an option, especially if we miss out on Mackay who I'd prefer.

Can play both ends and knows how to kick a goal.

Playing with the Zebras in the VFL this season and spent most of the year in defence.

Having said that I'd prefer Haretuku or Smith as I posted.

Sorry maybe it's just me but I do not rate Pearce at all and hope we don't even consider him cant even give you a good reason why just looks like a player that sits back and waits for the hard work to be done!

I agree, Pearce is no-good, never rated him

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
