Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Beamer ... Nothin' but a Dreamer?

Beamer has been a loyal servant and a good clubman. That said, he now plays rugby. Get ball, tuck under arm, take two steps, get tackled, try to break tackle, fail and fall to ground, free kick to opposition. We have no room in our side for a rugby player. Sad but true. One other talent, constantly pointing out to team mates where to go. That talent is not highly sought in rugby players.

in reality hes been a Rugger for quite a few years. He seems to have lost a yard and now struggles to get his other trademark, a booming kick off.

If Moloney goes then he will be snapped up quick smart by gold coast who have only said they want older midfielders.

Good on them.

It won't worry us.

But it will give us some nice compensation to use in the draft, probably a 2nd round pick.

It says on your profile that you joined this year, Jose. So was that when you were e25 or Artie Bucco?

Not either of those at the time, I don't think.

But I try to be a good boy now, since bouncing around between profiles is boring for everyone involved.

Gold Coast could use his type for a one- or two-year stint. Shove him in the guts and tell him to clear, clear, clear.

Freo, too.

Or Sydney, they have a habit of recycling old players on the brink and bringing them around.

I don't disagree. He's been terrible this year, but he has been trying, something just isn't clicking for him, which is bound to happen with a senior player struggling to grasp a new gameplan.

He may go freely, get traded, stick around... Whatever happens I think he's copped his fair share on here this year, and that is my point.

moloneys body language is a terrible look out on the field! he deserves every critism he gets for the [censored] poor attitude he has shown this year. just hope it doesn't rub off into the young players. i know for a fact beamer cannot wait till season finish so he can pack his bags and leave. good as gone.

Whereas we have a habit of not getting the best out of our current players and rarely out of recycled players (Clark aside, though he's hardly 'recycled').

Keep Moloney, one year deal. He has experience, body size and has shown in the past that he can play well. A one year deal will say to him that if he doesn't lift his game, then he's gone, and no one would want him after two bad years in a row.

With Green's experience missing next year, I think Moloney needs to re-signed. Unless we can pick up some good FAs, Beamer is a required player.

Let's not eat our own, like some clubs do.

I think that is a harsh assessment although he does seem to spend more time barking orders than much else this season.

A fact? Care to clarify your source? Ive heard similar actually although my source is pretty scetchy (well not according to him, but he was wrong on Scully). A new bloke at my work is in the same golf course as Jack Watts and a few other demons including some of the non-field staff.

The running joke there is that they spend more time perfecting their golf game than their AFL, LOL. Harsh but easily said when we are going so badly.

Anyway Ive been starting to pump this bloke for info and he is sussing a few things out HOPEFULLY...

While I tend to agree, I think we would have kept Green before we kept Moloney. Green could still work as a second option up forward parked in the goal square or pocket, whereas slow midfielders are struggling more and more.

I hope Moloney stays and turns it around but lets be honest - he wont play in a premiership at Melbourne.

Beamer made a decision over the last few years to stay bulky and try to push through. Name another midfielder with his experience that's gone the same route? Everyone is trimming down and improving their ability to run for 3 hours.

He looks like a dinosaur now. I think he'll struggle to get much interest.

If GC want him can we trade him for Caddy, or does free agency prohibit it?

resticted free agents as per:

The player is eligible to field offers from all rival AFL clubs.

If he wishes to change clubs, the player must decide on the best offer of his choice from one rival club.

His club has the right to match the presented offer.

If the club matches the offer, he may choose to remain with his original club, seek a trade or enter the Draft.

If the club does not or can not match the offer, the player can move to the new club of his choice.

His original club will receive a compensation pick for the loss of the player, on an AFL-determined formula to apply where clubs lose more free agents than they gain in any single transfer period.

Right, so you have faith in a coach who has been around a few months but want to wack our (albeit out of form) current BnF who has been around 8 years?

Exactly right. To get rid of Beamer would show disgraceful club culture. Enough to make me not renew my membership, and feel footy is nothing but a business.

Footy is a lot more than just cold business, there are fundamental human qualities like loyalty and decency that form the backbone of a great club culture. Rrov, your philosophy is full of holes. Beamer is the reigning b&f, a beast of a man that is coming to grips with a new game plan.

Seriously, some of you blokes would sell out there mothers.

Moloney stays.

Davey stays.

Rivers stays.

And I hope green wasn't pushed.

Really, neeld makes excuses about experience and if he forces these blokes out, I will be completed dumbfounded.

Even having green play 5 games for the season and the rest at Casey is better than not having him at all. Look at gws, young guys need older fellas to look up to.

Anyway, I really hope neeld dosnt strip our soul bare, and replace it with mercenaries.

Time will tell.

Of course footy is a business . You want the smaltzy homliness of a suburban or country footy club... go there.

Funny how you want folk to forget these 'professionals" are paid a hell of a lot of money to do their work.

What barbie world do you actually live in ? oh thats right ...the one where folk live under bridges !!

Never has one players stocks decreased so rapidly 19 brownlow votes doubt he'll get one this year.

Could he be injured?

If not than i hold grave concerns for a favourite player of mine.

At times he looks lost out there he has lost all instinct for the game.

I think youre on to something but i dont htink its physical. He's lost the 'will" in a fashion. He doesnt beleive, whether its in himself, the club, its coach or the way forward where'ever .... Footy is so much between the ears and hes not in a good place.

Some may think many of us heartless as we seem tosome to overlook the humanity of the game, or any endeavour but its not the case. There is hte person and there is the game. I acknowledge the person but its the game im interested in. You only have to take your eye off the ball a smidge and itll pass you by.

hes at the crossroads. As a person I wish him well..As to the clubs fortunes we simply need players of ability who buy in. If he cant, hes moved on, thats life.

Moloney has always barked instructions. It's usually been because he's been too lazy to do the work himself.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
