Cale Morton

Featured Replies

It doesn't help him.

He needs to have a huge PS and this won't help.

According to an article on AFL.com:

He will undergo surgery on the shoulder this week and is expected to be ready for the start of pre-season.

Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney revealed on melbournefc.com.au that Morton had been managing a shoulder injury for the past few months.

"Unfortunately, Cale had another episode on the weekend, which has caused further damage," Mahoney said.

So maybe he was going to be safe anyway.

This:

I did not jeer. And i wasn't aware that morton was injured. I thought everyone was jeering simply because Morton was subbed out of the game fairly early in the game, which I thought was pretty funny. Those that didn't hear the jeers, probably saw the injury, and for those that heard the jeers (like me) they probably didn't see the injury.

sounds very much like backpedalling, when one goes in with this:

I was there and people did jeer but I didn't really mind it to be honest. I know it's not the right thing to do and I didn't jeer myself but Morton doesn't deserve to be pulling on the melbourne jumper and he should be delisted at the end of the year. If a simple jeer gets through to the melbourne footy club that we don't appreciate them botching up our draft picks then so be it. He is our whipping boy for a reason!

and everybody reacts like most normal people would.

I wish him well, hope he has a fantastic recovery and a great pre season on his way to a reviving his career in 2013.

and I honestly wish I could share your optimism.

Just confirms what I think was already pretty obvious (that he'd be at the club next year).

Some of our supporters really make me question humanity.

FFS, injured or not, any player who goes out there and risks their well being to represent our club, deserves a level of respect.

If we are happy to see our own fail, then we are a pathetic bunch and don't deserve success.

der.... he is contracted..

If I even bothered to go to the footy at the moment i would jeer Morton, just as i would jeer any player who fails to understand the fundamentals of the game. The sad thing is he'll still be playing his insipid brand of football for us in 5 years time. DELIST NOW TO AVOiD FURTHER PAIN

Thanks for that.

You should put that in a Hero-gram or whatever they are called...

...sprinkle it with anthrax and send it to himself.

Well there's plenty of posters outing themselves as d/heads in this thread. Obviously they weren't told by mummy: "if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say it at all..."

The lazy [censored] should've at least taught them "it is better to have others think of you as a fool than air your opinions & remove all doubt."

Geeez let's all get off our high horses. Never booed a injured Melbourne player and never will but all Freak did was share an honest opinion. FWIW I wish Cale all the best at another club.

No. He showed really poor taste for all the reasons that many other posters have brought up in this thread.

FWIW Cale is contracted in '13 and, given his shoulder injury, is unlikely to be sought after during trade time

Well, that would be a lovely sentiment...

...had Cale signed with another club.

The guy will be a Demon in 2013.

Well Freak you certainly covered yourself in glory son didn't you....

Yes wyl

He has.

Must be me but Demonland is depressing the crap out of me tonight.

Being negative is natural in our current position

But the vitriol from some people leaves me in dismay.

Tomorrow I hope will be better.

Goodnight.

I will just have to keep my opinions to myself, at least for now.

What do we do with this kid now?

Im not bashing him, I just dont actually know what the club will / can do.

He is injured, had another stinker of a year but is contracted for another year.

Do we leave him to rot at casey or do we seek a trade?

Or could he get on the juice, get massive and start smashing blokes?

Like they do at Vic Markets. When you buy tomatoes they throw in a coupla dodgy ones that you don't discover till you get home.

We can package Cale up with Sylvia and Davey. Maybe they won't notice.

here's hoping.

Or could he get on the juice, get massive and start smashing blokes?

Lol not sure he has that in him. Maybe they can pay Jake King to beat him senseless until he starts to fight back?

Contracted for 2013.

Very doubtful that he could be traded.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
