On the Couch - Brock talks about 'tanking'

jumbo returns

My view is a little shorter than that Biffen

If by this time next year there is not significant improvement then This lot should be removed.

What is significant improvement?

8 wins, we are never going to play finals in 2014 with this list.

Without out improvement in 2013 there will be no MFC to speak of by 2014.

it's a three year contract OD. I suppose we have to have to honour it and change the list by 25%.

Biffen I was not suggesting we change the coach / FD.

I and I suspect 99.9% of demonlanders have no idea if Neeld is a good coach or not

It is way to early to know.

I was suggesting a number of the management / board of the club needs to change.

If Neeld has not shown improvement in the players in 12 months, he will be finished regardless of when his contract expires. MFC cannot afford to display another 12 months of putrid football.

And if he is sacked then as he leaves a number of senior admin/ Board people should fall on their swords as well.

He did re appoint him, didn't he?

lol

For a year.

Schwab has his issues and we talked about them ad infinitum months ago, but giving Bailey a year at the start of 2010 was a masterstroke that allowed us to move on after a disastrous 2011.

Imagine how would be in charge now if we waited until around THAT Sydney game in Rd17 2010...

We are in agreement on this one RR.

IMO the tanking situation is over red Range Rover(carpet bombs and all). McLean with old news trying to bring attention to himself.

Melbourne need someone to take over where Jimmy left off. Lets hope McClardy gets up and defends the club as Jimmy would have. Do the McGuire patriotism thing. Stand by.

Must do some work now

"I believe in Neeld"

Spot on Eddy would be on ever medium crying foul and defending the Pies.

What do we get from the MFC silence

Just confirms we are in the wrong.

Stand for nothing the scribes will say.

Oh for an Eddy at the MFC.

You really don't like the current Board do you?

The AFL won't make an issue of it. They intentionally made the competition work this way due to the disparity between the rich and poor clubs and also (back then) to benefit the new clubs coming into the comp.

When they realised they had created a monster they changed the rules and invented new ones for GWS and GC which the rest of the clubs agreed to.

It's a great issue for the media as it sells copy but it's old news. Everyone knows we tanked, heck I supported it as I thought it would help us. In hindsight it hasn't but we move on.

What was the most painful thing to watch about that on the couch show was Roos saying we are becoming irrelevant as a footy club based on stats like Gold Coast having won more quarters of football than we have this year. I know stats can be used to prove anything but that is a pretty hard thing to hear all the same.

I hope Neeld cleans the place out at the end of the year I really do

Have been reading this thread and it nearly makes me vomit

The current board and CS had demolished our debt of $5 millions dollars with Jim as the head man but Jim did not do this alone

How long has it been that we could afford to bid for and get a player like Mitch Clark

How long has it been since we can afford a proper cashed up Football Dept

How long has it been that we can afford to be in the hunt for Travis Cloke (weather he comes to us or not)

I have supported MFC for 50 years.....I was here when Barris left....the sacking of Norm Smith....The Peter Moore/Templeton saviors

This club is financially so much better than we have been for the past 30 years

So stop bitching about the CEO and the Board or put yourself up for election and do a better job....

And as for Roos....He may have won a flag but is responsible for turning football into a nearly unwatchable game....

End Rant

Not in the least bit concerned. You know who this will reflect poorly on?

Brock!

You know if the AFL decide to investigate further who they will speak to?

Brock!

You know if and when they talk to him they will request evidence of any substance and when they find none who will be well and trully in the gun?

Brock!

You know how the club will react to this baseless supposition and who they in turn will seek possible damages against?

Brock!

You know Carlton will be filthy because it creates unwanted heat on them trying( in vain to reach finals) and who in turn will be seen as the main fault?

Brock!

and finally, who will be seen as having an agenda which ultimately can come back to bite in the rest of his footy life?

Brock!

Hard to hold a board meeting from London I would have thought......Time zones???? Board members actually having other businesses to run????....Not as easy as you think...old dee

So Adrian Anderson wants to interview Brock. He'd want to be careful.

If this ends up with Melbourne getting sanctioned, there's a dirty secret about Brock that plenty would be happy to share with the mainstream media.

What else did he do?

Future captain of the MFC he is...

No, but seriously, what did he do?

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
