Who are GWS going to poach at seasons end?

Noticing that the speculation about GWS's next victim/target is very muted this year. Is Boak off to GWS? If not, then which lucky player(s) and unlucky club(s) is going to win the AFL's lotto and earn more than they're worth?

It's not us so all good there.

Goddard is not signing with the saints in a very quiet manner.

Key defenders. Ben Reid yet to sign. Cloke re-signing could force him out. Their cap must be tight.

Who's over 30 and about to 'retire' ?

I don't think they can Poach him, they've already taken one from us.

I was speaking in general actually, they can have Green if they want.

Nah, Green after yesterday's performance has more worth at the club than I thought he did a month ago. He will play next year I hope

How good did green look when we had clearance's and he was playing deep forward? Man I wish we had a good midfield it would make green look better and he would get the respect he deserves. Also would give Petterd a chance to show his stuff too.

Dunno, but they need to snag someone. Their two Marquee signings of Scully & Folau have been absolute duds. The lack of any GWS talk tells me they've got nothing yet as opposed to the very loud jungle drums of years past re: player movement. The other point is that there is a massive gap in their list between youngtsers and players who have just about had it. If they don't score a credentialled big name Gubby Allen and Sheeds with have substantial egg on their faces, AFL to the rescue?

If GWS has taken a player from a club already under the uncontracted player rule, can they take another who also happens to be a free agent or restricted free agent? As the GWS rules were done before the free agency rules logic would say they cannot. Anyone know the definitive answer?

Given the earlier talk that Jamar might be targeted as a FA by GWS, i think they can take more players this way.

Probably "at the discretion of the AFL Commission"

Hopefully not Sam Blease in the PSD.

Haven't the rules changed and players have to go in the National Draft first?? No chance Blease to get to GWS if thats the case.

Moot point anyway. He aint going anywhere.

Ben Reid looks a good bet atm. I doubt anyone from the Hawks is planning a move. Is Sam Reid contracted? It'd be a hell of a coup to get the pair.

If GWS cant buy the guns in the age group they want, I could see them going again with a handful of semi-retirees.

There are a few contemplating retirement - forced or otherwise (eg. Green, Corey, Gilbee etc). Add assistant-coach to the title and they might jag a few 1 year gap fillers.

There's no point paying millions for a Goddard if he wont be around when/if GWS start making finals.

GWS seem to be going for young players, so ben reid does fit that bill.. really not too many other young guns out of contract

Not sure they'd go for KPD....... They've already got some decent ones there....

I'd think they're more likely to target ruckmen and possibly medium lead-up forwards, personally.

Wonder if Sam Blease wants to join his mate scully. We could trade for an u17.

I would prefer not to but just in case that does happen i thought i would put it out there.

Bloody oath he is.......

Sam Reid signed a five year deal with the Swans earlier this sason.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
