  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Robbo as an interviewer

Sure , Robbo is a thoroughly likeable, ever-cheerful guy but his interview with the coach on the MFC site re the Richmond loss was painful to watch . He must have used the word "I" six times in the first minute ! The first half of the interview was ALL ABOUT HIMSELF ! Keep him for the kids' stuff.

He could be better. I also notice that he will ask a question, and then make little grunts of agreement while the interviewee is talking. I understand he's trying to sound agreeable and enthusiastic, but I'm listening to the interview for the interviewee, not for Robbo! He should be silent while the other bloke is talking.

Seriously?

Robbo is great to listen and watch on DeeTV stuff. The interviews he does with Neeld in the Coaches Room show a side of Neeld that is refreshing and relaxed and I actually like seeing that side of the coach. Neeld has a very dry sense of humour and the banter between the two is good to watch.

The Robbo show is light hearted and amusing.... it's not supposed to be anything but this.

Matt Burgan whilst I appreciate all the media work that he does, still comes across as stiff and almost nervous in front of the camera...

Just see Robbo's stuff for what it is... sheesh ^_^

It's the nodding wisely of the head thing that Chook pointed out that annoys me too, and he misses lots of opportunities to probe further on details that would be really interesting for us mugs. I think what he forgets is that he's going it for the benefit of those of us who know bugger all. Too often I see him nod enthusiastically and move on when I'm thinking, "no, tell me more!".

On the positive side, his relaxed attitude and general vibe of being one of the boys really adds something to the interviews. A great example of this was his interview with Rivers after the GWS game. As he was nearly jumping out of his skin with excitement it allowed Rivers to share his own excitement more. Obviously the interview understandably wasn't rich in content, but from the point of view of getting a feeling about the general atmosphere I thought it was great.

I've recently watched the legends interviews on the afl or heraldsun website. Robbo interviews Carey and Mal Michael before the game. Struggle city asking Carey about the "game plan" and what can we expect. Couldn't think of anything else to ask one of the best players of all time b4 a 'kick & giggle'. Cringeworthy.

What do you think is the point of Robbo as an interviewer?

He's not meant to be the hard-hitting media type who does what he can to get as much material out of the subject as possible. The idea is he's meant to be one of "the boys" who gives an insight into the light-hearted atmosphere around the club. He talks about himself as a bit of a joke to bring out the light-hearted banter oucher pointed out between Neeld and himself. If you are watching Robbo's interviews for anything other than a laugh and insight into the personalities around the club you are seriously mislead in terms of his role.

I for one am a big fan of what Robbo does on DeeTV. Always worth a laugh and gets away from the stress of us worrying purely about the on-field performance. Keep it up Robbo!

Robbo is clearly all about himself and loves taking about himself...but that's why we loved him

Actually, I loved him because he kicked lots of goals for the Melbourne Football Club. He could have beaten baby seals in his free time and I still would have loved him.

I understand the frustration of those who want to get more out of the Coach's Office segment, but the trade off is the personality that Robbo can draw out of people, Neeld included, which is really what the show is about.

It sure beats the hell out of "Beamer's Bumps & Bruises".

ideal for MCG lightweight stuff. Wouldn't bother watching if he was "on the couch"..he would just talk about how to take a screamer

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
