Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Richmond's Dan Connors and Dustin Martin in trouble

I found it amusing that this all went on at Connors house.

Connors lives with Shane Edwards and Edwards 'decided' not to check in with them and toddled off to training getting there on time. Wouldn't any normal person knock on the door and tell them to get the f**k out of bed or be late for training? Unless of course you knew there was no way they would be waking up in a fit state?

maybe shane got to training from a different direction?

Edwards was unable to catch them to let them know.

Everything I hate about football is is on display currently as a result of this Richmond incident. Seriously it's one thing to be passionate about football but the over analysis of the game, purification of players lives and expectations that players behave like robotic saints is getting ridiculous. Yup, they screwed up. They're kids. They didn't beat anyone up or even cause a public scene. They missed a training session. Roughly a quarter of the people denigrating them are probably repressed borderline alcoholics. So what if they both got blasted and took a few sleeping pills. This is hardly a black day for football or even the Richmond football club.

Well BDP if you don't want to lead a life of hate maybe you should steer clear of the Internet especially footy forums :)

I agree. The game is becoming to sanitized. But with huge $$$ involved that is the deal. I hope Connors will be given a chance to sort himself out.

BDP rightly or wrongly as part of the job they chose to persue they have higher expectations than other folks along with that comes a hefty salary. My issue with it is sacking one bloke yet the other gun player who's "social issues" (WTF does that mean anyway and how many other players would Caro have gotten stuck into over the years for similar "social issues" but because it is Rich she looks after Martin) Rich has been concerned about gets off with 2 weeks off... pppfffttt the biggest killers in Africa.. HYPO's!

wow!

but what about the agreed-to team rules - unreasonable and therefore ignorable?

trust, team loyalty, priorities - all these things are fundamental to culture aren't they? The ramifications of these guys' actual misdemeanours on the night go well beyond any actual physical or legal damage done, surely?

"How far can it go?" - surely a bit further in context of a football club than in the context of an anonymous individual's private life..

you don't believe it was just sleeping pills and being late for training do you?

i do have sympathy in general for players who become public property on and off the field etc

in the old days it was the opposite with players being protected by the media and the clubs

but i don't understand why so many attract attention deliberately with social media like facebook, twitter etc

It's pretty simple from where I sit. It's a professional sport, act like a professional.

There are members paying money to hopefully one day witness the ultimate success.

There are coaches putting in countless hours to try and develop these guys into the best athletes they can be.

Drinking, taking unnecessary drugs and missing training sessions is letting every down, and you deserve all you get.

These guys get all sorts of sh/t for free on top of the huge salary they earn, glamours hanging off them that wouldn't look twice at them if they were elbow deep fixing your dunny...

So they have to give up the typical Aussie larrikin lifestyle for 10 or so years. That's probably a good thing.

I agree DC

I know the parents of a current MFC player.

I am astounded at the life style he is expected to live.

He has not had 1 acholic drink since last september could not even let his hair down on Christmas day.

There is seldom a Day that he is not at the club.

He is out of contract this year and lives the life of a monk to ensure his contract is renewed.

Thinks he is ok but leaves nothing to chance.

Not sure I would want to live his current life style.

I am amazed that people do not understand the internet.

Once you put anything on be it tweeter , face book etc it is there forever for everyone to see.

What is it that people do not understand?

All of what you say is true DA

But at the end of the day most of them are very young men.

Young men will take risks it is the nature of the beast.

I well remember doing a few stupid things.

Some will make mistakes it is how they develop from that point on that is important.

Obviously Conners never understood.

Perhaps he might now.

Of course i don't, but a large % of young kids do go hard regularly.

This is why i vehmently oppose the AFL's 3 strike rule. It it short sighted and wrong.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
