Do we think that Magner will be upgraded alongside Nicho and Evans, or would he have another year on the rookie list? He'd be stiff to miss out

Mitsubishi will struggle to do better than be re-rookied I reckon, especially with new midfield talent on the way in. You can't fault his application, but his limitations were really on display as the season wore on.

I'm more concerned about Strauss and where his contract is at.

Strauss is a must keep for me. Has shown enough glimpses to suggest he's worth perserving with.

2013

Watts, Sylvia (UFA), Davey (RFA), Gysberts, Morton, Grimes, Taggert, Gawn, Martin, Tynan, Fitzpatrick

MFC may be thinking ahead in relations to how we will create list space next year.

With Gysberts and Morton gone the only obvious delisting next year is Davey and possibly Martin if he is not traded today. Doesn't look like a smart approach to me because they will have next to no room to move with delistings. Can't see them wanting to move on Watts, Sylvia, Grimes, Taggert, Fitzpatrick Gawn and Tynan next year.

Bartram, Bate, Bennell, Petterd, Cook and Davis will go. Nicholson, Couch and Magner to be upgraded, though I can see Couch being delisted too.

The others to consider themselves lucky: Dunn, Strauss, Bail and Jetta.

I think Neeld can see a role for Dunn as distributor from the back. Strauss is behind Dunn at the moment, which means he's on very thin ice. He may not get a contract as a result. Jetta seems to work hard, so I reckon Neeld will give him an extra two years.

How would you compare Strauss to Dunn in a similar role? I reckon they're both as soft as butter, but both beautiful kicks. Dunn has more versatility though. I reckon Strauss could be in trouble.

Edit. Spelling.

**On assumption Hogan is not one of the 40 for 2013.

Updated.

I expect us to use ALL picks up to 74 due to the fact that they were all received on deals to get the deal done. If they don't use them then they are useless and exhibit a marginal failure to trade properly.

That is not included in rookie upgrades.

So I expect to see AT LEAST 6 more deletions from the OOC list: Batram, Bennell, Petterd, Strauss, Cook, MacDonald, Jetta, Davis, Spencer, Bail, Sellar, Bate, and Dunn.

Add more if we get any delisted player or look to use PSD3.

rpfc would: Batram, Bennell, Petterd, Strauss, Cook, MacDonald, Jetta, Davis, Spencer, Bail, Sellar, Bate, and Dunn.

Use ALL picks up to 74 (because that is what I can only assume after today) and keep PSD3 open for an OOC young player from another club.

Gee even after todays trades have been completed, we still have a lot of ordinary footballers on our list.

It wouldn't surprise me to see another 6 names de-listed.

From your list rpfc I think the following will be delisted.

Bennell, Petterd, Cook, Jetta, Davis and Bate

The rest ?

Bartram may be rookied to see if his knees improve but he looks doubtful on the basis of his crook knees.

Spencer I think will get another season based on Martin leaving and Gawn returning from his second Knee Reco.

Sellar, Dunn and Macdonald are still usefull players and Bail because the FD seem to like him despite the fact he cannot hit the side of a barn.

Are you absolutely certain about Bennell, OldDee? One more season perhaps to turn the ship around?

Stop baiting...

As for the INs and OUTs we have improved the 22 and brought in 3 top5 talents.

We don't ahve to worry about the forward line for a decade (besides a younger small forward in a couple years) and the backline is setup.

What we need is a midfield with run and good skill.

Viney and Wines helps this but I think this area will still be a massive issue in 2013: clearance rates, uncontested possies, and skills off half back/wing.

I can see us only using pick 4, 49 and 53 + PSD 3 or 1 delisted FA. So 4 picks in total plus upgrades of both Nicholson and Evans = 6 spaces.

We currently have two. I would delist Cook, Bate, Bennell and Davis. Sign Bartram, Dunn, Petterd, MacDonald, Jetta, and Sellar to 1yr deals. Bail & Strauss I'd give 2 years. This gives them another chance to show the footy departement that they can fit into Neelds plans and that they have the dedication/commitment to get the best out of themeselves.

If they don't, then we have our candidates for next years delisties because for me at this stage, I would like the current 2013 OOC players to remain at the club beyond then (Davey debatable).

Give him a full AFL preseason, before committing to his limitations.

You forgot 27.

My count is that there are, currently, three spots, the bare minimum. I would expect a few delistings and us to use 5-6 draft picks. Of these one will definately be Viney and the other Nicholson.

BTW Hogan will not be on our list next year.

I was using RPFC's list that already included Viney onto our list, and I am also aware Hogan will not be officially listed as a player next year.

There are 6 vacancies with Evans and Nicho to come up from what I have heard from more than one source. See if that pans out soon.

If it does we will have 4 vacancies for ND4, ND49, ND53, and ND70/PSD3. ND73 and ND74 are there for more deletions/contract hold outs.

IMO with these delisting numbers, & desire for integrity & trust, I would upgrade Magner, Nicholson, maybe Evans if he's body is OK, Couch I'm not sure yet.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
