0-9 during his first season.

Did Damien Hardwick flinch? Did he f ...k.

This afternoon Richmond completely demolished flag fancy Hawthorn at the MCG. A massive win for that club, their supporters and their future.

Here's what Hardwick had to say recently about his counterpart Mark Neeld.

http://www.afl.com.a...39/default.aspx

"Mark knows what he's trying to do. It's just going to take time. We were in exactly the same situation when we were 0-9. You could see the pieces of the puzzle come together slowly. It does take time for a playing group to get the game plan you're trying to implement.

"Mark will be feeling flat at some stages, but he'll get there. He's very, very thorough. He'll continue on his pathway. He won't deviate from it and that's what will get the job done for him."

I'd like to hear what Rudeboy, Grand New Flag and the other 'destabilizers' have to say about this these comments and what they mean for the MFC.

Two years ago I was convinced that we had a far better list than Richmond - and Essendon - and that the future was bright.

I think it's great to try and find some positives, and I'm not a Neeld hater, but....

That is a totally different club, and a totally different coach, so as much as it's nice to know someone has been in the same situation from a win/loss point of view, it doesn't mean we are going to turn it around because they did, and to try and stick it up some other posters who disagree with you by making that connection is a bit of a stretch.

Probably that a giant comet will strike the earth and we're all going to die.

OK, our new master plan. No more Geelong lite or Collingwood press. Now we will copy Richmonds game.

What is this. Shall we look back in the history books to find every good news story that has started with a bad beginning?

I hope your on the right track range rover, but not sure why people need to have blind faith in neeld based on the things he says, not on what we see on game day?

Too early to tell either way

Your neeld crusade is looking to be 2012 version of rpfc's quest for people to show blind faith in scully....

I like that the coaches stick up for each other, and I was glad to see Spud Frawley's response to David King (and a few others) in support of Neeld, but really Dimma has no idea if Neeld will get the job done, just like the rest of us have no idea yet.

You're right. Hence the nod to Rpfc with my sig.

But it's not blind faith. It's genuine belief.

I expect Neeld to come under significantly more fire over the next three weeks as we will in all likelihood get well beaten by Carl/Ess/Coll. You can see that there's a movement on here agitating for his dismissal. The Old Guard who are resisting change and don't want to put in the hard yards to change the culture of the club.

Just for you RR: 'It is better to keep silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt'.

Some of us in the 'New Guard' are seeking to put MFC ahead of the rest as a future leading club, not just find the latest supposedly successful club's plan and follow it!

Jackie you are making missing the point of a thread into an art form.

Well done again.

Who said anything about following what Richmond have done verbatim??

All the OP points to is that we should back our man as Richmond backed theirs. Nothing more, nothing less.

Given that is the case your quote above would seem to apply to yourself, Hardnut. Use your noggin old boy.

I am sure our new coach will be quietly pleased at the improvement of the RFC. It says one thing. Believe in what you teach & stick to it.

To me it says: make sure you draft a couple of gun midfielders from the pointy end of the draft.

Absolutely correct. We must draft the two best mids available in November. It will be D-Day for the club. Our last roll of the dice at the card table.

Different club, different circumstances, different coaching style, on and on and on ......

Give it a rest RR.

In any case, this thread should probably be combined with others following similar tacks.

Just get on board Hardnut and back in your coach to succeed. It's as simple as that.

Can anyone name a coach who started 0/9 or wars and won a flag? Get a grip guys, Richmond are still in the negative for the year and won nothing yet. Talk about desperado's clutching at straws.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
