You ridiculed someone for daring to consider that this mindless, unconstructive bitching about the club was bad for the club. You said that unconditional support was not good for the club. In fact it needs constructive criticism.

So show me the constructive criticism.

Was your comment about constructive criticism a joke? And I mean the sort of joke that you're thinking of, not the one I'm thinking of.

Now I am confused.

Not sure anymore AoB

I'm over this footy club. Call me what you will. We pay this footy club good money every year. I bet the players were rapt that scully left, not because he's a rat, but because they will get better contracts now. This club is now about the players getting the best cash they can now, not premierships. They are taking the pi$$ out of us supporters.

Where did you hear this... if you're going to make such assertions to support your arguments, at least provide something a little more concrete than "I've heard...".

How about responding to this, which I have asked you no less than 4 times in a row. This is the fifth. Or else, maybe you would like to continue doing this:

If people were being constructive, rather than simply sitting in a circle and (mindlessly) trying to show everyone how they are angrier and more depressed than everyone else, then this board would not have degenerated into the shallow mothers club that it is becoming.

Contribute some thinking to your posts (and this goes for nearly everyone in this thread) or STFU.

I am backing everything up with quotes and reasoning of why I'm doing it. How is this not contributing thought? Show me where.

Watts will be okay IMO. It's Cook over Darling, Maric over Selwood, Strauss over Zaharakis and Blease over Shuey that trouble me. And I know nothing about recruitment - but that's what worries me given that my Herald Sun opinions would've landed us a better list than the dudes paid to nail this for us.

Well it's what I've heard and seriously how could you not put that past our current senior playing group. Do they look like they care our there on the field. I think we can all admit we have a serious culture issue and a record of paying overs for players who have managed to pull together a good last season of contracts. See davey.

The good news is neeld understands this. Why are none of our older "leaders" in the leadership group this year? He knows it's up to the young fellas. I just worry how far back we are due our horrible culture and abysmal recruiting.

Now H&S it is time for a coffee and a little rest.

A little bleating and sarcasm is the way a few of us get through a Football season.

God knows there is not much else to put a smile on our dials.

I have not seen one person on here saying they are sending back or burning their membership card.

I also think it is legtimate to discuss what has bought the MFC to this point of success in 2012.

Unconditional support will not improve the MFC.

Every organisation benefits from constructive criticism.

Yeah but you are TOXIC like many others around here you live in "Demonland" - we never offer "unconditional support" in-fact quite the opposite.

Do you truely think it matters a stuff what any of us say on here.

Does it have any effect on the way the club is run or how the players perform?

Of course not.

This is just a forum for people to air their views, good or bad.

I have every confidence that my "TOXIC" views ( your words not mine ) make zero diference to the way the MFC plays each weekend.

If it is so horrible for you on Demonland go off to "the little league" and enjoy yourself.

My comment was based on your contributions to this thread which are as follows:

1.

Geez, some of you guys must be fun at parties.

2,

Show me where this has been constructive.

3.

Show me some.

Would you recognise it?

That's great. Well done.

Now that you've amused yourself, show me where the criticism has been constructive.

Where are the quotes you talk of? Apart from #5 all I see is a question/request repeated over and over and criticism of the general quality of posting on this site (mothers club, lack of thought on most posters' part)... quite honestly, I don't see that a lot of thought has gone into those posts of yours either..

There we go. Good stuff. Although I believe you to be wrong, I appreciate that at least you attempted to back up what you were saying with something that made it look like you had thought about what you were saying.

The first quote was a cheap shot from me. I accept that. It was my emotional release because I didn't want to do what I ended up doing, but old dee's comment about constructive criticism eventually pushed me over the edge.

The rest of what I was saying was an attempt to get old dee, and other posters clicking in this thread to continue their bitchfest, to consider that this was not constructive. I was hoping to use his own words so that he would better recognise this. I was hoping that this wouldn't take as long as it did. This thread has been anything but constructive, so I hoped that, as old dee had a look/think through this thread, he would recognise this and perhaps Demonland would be better for it.

Unfortunately he then continued to ignore this. I showed that this was the case and was hoping that showing him that he had not answered the question would prompt him into reflecting on the thread. I did this several times to prompt. He did not do so, so I changed tack, removed the subtlety and made it far more obvious what the point was that I was trying to make.

The final quote you had was drawing the logical conclusion to this point of argument (and, as an extension, of the common thread of Demonland) that old dee's inability to find anything constructive was a symptom of a greater issue on Demonland - ie, that there is very little constructive thought, but rather a degeneration into mindless denigration of the club at every turn. There are, of course, exceptions but they are unfortunately few and far between.

Hopefully this explains my side of this.

Jokes aside. The way some are carrying on, 2011 must be a distant memory.

Granted it has been a woeful start, but it was going to be uphill early on. And many projected a poor first half return for the season. Some even predicted pain early and the possibility of something like 2-9 or even 0-11. Mostly though IIRC 3-8 and 4-7 returns were spruiked with some labelling them realistic expectations.

Everyone wants improvement. Many are accurate regarding the standard of our midfield (as much as it hurts) and the need for quality. With the acknowledgment that we want to be competitive in the meantime.

We need to add quality but we also need to develop what we have to the best the club can. With the lack of experienced leaders it makes it all the harder and frustrating.

I still think our club will begin to make progress later this season.

But as expected it will be tough early on.

Stick fat. The players will be going through much we can't fathom. They need support through some tough times. Which is exactly what the last month has been for this club.

I think you and many others dont understand the value of mind-set. Your "honesty" is refreshing and I will stop there.

I just wonder at times if any of the "stuff" some MFC "supporters" put in a public domain could ever be used against them.

Just a thought.

I think we will struggle to win 3 games this year, if we were 4 and 7 half way I'd be over the Moon. It's hard to get enthusiastic when you see that sort of scenario nevertheless I'm bringing the Grandchildren home from Disneyland on Friday so I can take my Grandson to the footy on Saturday so I guess I haven't given up yet.

Dr I am not sure how it could be used against them.

Can you explain that please.

As I said I doubt any of the players would know we exist let alone take any notice of our ramblings.

Look foward to your thoughts.

H-T I struggle with how anyone complaining about how badly the club may have been run in the past or how our list might be effects the way the players perform each weekend.

If people are still going to games ( they have so far ) and still cheer them on how does waffle written on demonland affect the players on field preformance.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
