As I see it ,there are THREE major problems facing the team .

The first one is that we are simply too small.(not strong enough)

The second is that we can not tackle because of reason one as well as technique(we tackle around the chest instead of the hips)

The third is that our disposal is hurried and ineffective.

There is no problem with effort,guts trying or any of those things we like to beat ourselves up about .

The umpires today should be tortured to death slowly(it would make me feel better)

I wish we could Stuie in all seriousness. This is why G Lyon was called in last year. Obviously for reasons not known to us the Footy Dept. were not doing their job.

It will take 2-3 seasons to fix this mess. Does the club have that much time??

Decisions in the last ten years or so that have given me the $%#^ and are some of the things that are perhaps behind where we are at:

1. Losing Jolly because we refused to give him enough game time

2. Giving too many seasons to the likes of Brad Miller and Travis Johnstone (just saw Brad Miller kick a goal for Richmond)

3. Losing Scott Thompson (although this wasnt a decision of ours to make)

4. Losing Robbo, Bruce and ofcourse Junior when we needed their leadership.

5. Selecting crap players - so many players in the last ten years have been delisted from our side after a few seasons and then never make it in the next side (be it West Coast or RIchmond).

6. Choosing Scully and trengove when we REALLY need hardarse with some spine in the middle to change the culture of the club (Dusty).

Watts will never be the player he perhaps could have been because like most of Melb in the last six or so years the media hype gets in their heads and they let it become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

And I never want to hear any player on our current list say that they 'bleed red and blue' - ive never once seen a melb player play like their life depended on it - I remember watching Braun and Cousins in the midfield vomiiting. And I remember reading that Scully was shocked by how lax many player's training focus and preparation was at melbourne.

And it really annoys me that Scully is being so clearly vindicated. So typical of Melbourne.

Spot on with the technique and it may also be a philosophy re the most stupid thinking error in football about pinning the arms so he can't get a handball away. Players will lift there arms in a tackle if allowed to but if you drive a tackle through the lower body I guarantee they won't keep doing it if they keep getting the wind knocked out of them and the ball drops free.

The best tackler technique wise in the AFL at the moment is Nik Nat, a perfect example was the one he laid on Magner today, the guy is 200cm to Magna's 178cm and he got in nice and low and took him out, Magna had no chance to give off the ball.

It did my head in the amount of missed and or poorly executed tackles today.

Made the trip over for the game. Couple of my observations from today's game:

1) Disposal efficiency - terrible. During the warm up, players under no pressure doing a drill miss the target by a fair margin. The disposal in the game was no better. How do we recruit kids that can't kick a footy?

2) First 10 minutes was a high intensity where we seemed to quell the Eagles stars. Kicking errors then undid the early pressure and hurt us on the scoreboard. We couldn't maintain that pressure for long periods of time.

3) In terms of rotations and changes, I had the feeling early on the game was about damage limitation. Half forward playing up the ground to limit Eagles supply. We didn't have the skills to play this way as we kept giving the ball away. No amount of positional changes will help with that game plan when you can't hit targets.

4) Mark Jamar had a shocker and don't know where he is at. Cox and Nic Nat killed him.

5) Why did Bate start as a sub again. Would have preferred Green.

6) No excuses, a lot of umpire decisions in the 1st quarter were crap. West Coast was 1st to the ball, but some real soft frees.

7) Last week I thought a lot of our players were lazy and were not prepared to run. There was a reason that Eagle players were in open space, they were prepared to run. We weren't!

Yeah and the most notable thing Cook has done is have a cry at training when Moloney yelled at him.
