Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why we should tank...

What a grim position our club has reached. Yet all is not lost. If we embrace a season long strategy of losing every game (we are well under way!), untold riches await.

Consider this scenario. If we finish bottom, our draft picks in the (bumper) upcoming national draft would be as follows.

Pick #1

Pick # 2 (compensation pick for Tom $cully)

Pick #15 (compensation for Tom $cully, GWS have an extra rd 1 pick and assuming Dogs finish lower than 9th)

Also, once the bidding for Jack Viney occurs, our 1st round pick is protected as it would be no1. As far as I know we can't be made to use our compo picks on him, so we would then use our first pick in round 2 Pick which would be about #25, given that Brisbane have an end of rd 1 pick.

The alternative is to battle through the season finish around 12th and have:

Pick 8 (probably have to use on Viney)

Pick 9 ($cully)

Pick 15 ($cully)

Pick 30

NB.... Before everyone jumps down my throat and labels me a disgrace, this is firmly tongue in cheek, I will probably drive to the West Gate Bridge and jump off if we don't win a game this year. However, leading into the last round a win or loss may be very important as to where we are forced to take Jack Viney.

The last thing we need is more tanking talk!! A winning culture is the ONLY way to teach our young players the value of every game, and to grow the ruthless mentality that we need to climb the ladder.

Did anyone actually read the full post, especially the part at the end where I said this was tongue in cheek and that I did not want us to tank??? I thought only Collingwood supporters couldn't read... Sigh...

It was only a matter of time before this subject reared its ugly head (joking or not)

Although it seems we are all sick of losing it will be interesting to see what thoughts are being bandied around if we are 12th on the ladder in round 18.......

I was pro development in 2010 but I don't think I could handle the same scenario again.

Then again when the potential draft picks become obvious........

Lachie Whitfield at #1 - write it in. Much like 'we-all-know-who' in '09.

1) Pointless topic

2) I cant fathom to think about if we were in such a position to draft picks #1 and #2 the added pressure on those players performing and the media scrutinizing us on how we made the wrong decision again. I am sick to death on Melbourne 'apparently' making the wrong pick choices when at the time where the best available options at that number. I'd rather now just stick to getting picks around 15-30 mid range and hope to snare a superstar i.e. Nat Fyfe at 20 or Dane Swan pick 58.

I said the same thing in the same way several months ago and got the same reaction.

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
