Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yeah it's a tough 1st half of the year 'furious' but in my opinion we'll get more than 2 wins out of our games against Brisbane , Richmond , St Kilda , Bulldogs , Essendon and Sydney

Winning at least 4 of those 6 is not unrealistic . A win against any of the top 5 right now is a bit of a stretch .

Also , there's nearly always one of the top sides that comes back to the field . Your guess is as good as mine on who that might be but it often happens . Injuries can play a big part as well .

Cheers ®

I agree that 4 is not unrealistic, I'll actually be dissapointed if we win less than 4.

I think Hardnut was talking worst case scenario's and if we are as bad as we were late last season we'll be lucky to win 2.

This place could be in meltdown by the bye if we get off to a bad start and lose some of our early winnable games because we'll struggle to win more than 1 between rd 6-11 if we go into those games with no confidence.

Tell ya what , if you 2 are right I'll happily come on and say how correct you both were . That both of you really know your footy .

But , if you're both wrong ................................

What do you two base your attitude on ? Just throwing a comment out there isn't good enough . Please explain .

I'll tell you why we'll win at least 4 - 6 games by round 12 - because we will be much better than last year . That's it .

Cheers ®

Macca - I think you need to chill out dude. There was no attitude in my comment and how can you even suggest that from text - thats a very weird comment.

My comment was based on peoples reactions to the other nights meaningless games - no attitude there chief. If anything it was a bit tongue in cheek.

Dont take life too seriously!!!

Went and watched the game at the Bentleigh Club, only downer on the night......the constant negativity and criticism from 'supporters' you think we had just lost a prelim by 100 points after the Gold Coast game....

I have a simple solution to anybody that is disappointed/suicidal/negative about what the season holds/wants to immediately delist the whole squad.

Don't watch the games....easy...then no stress in your life......

But then you couldn't come onto this board and vent.........gee this is hard choice

Predicticting 4 - 6 wins is a realistic approach in my opinion . 6 - 8 wins would be optimistic .

Here's how I view things , if we beat Richmond in round 3 we could drop a game against the Doggies or Saints . But if we lose to the Tigers we could win both those games . That's often how footy works .

Ah , lost in translation 'HG' . Apologies if you've taken the word "attitude" the wrong way . Didn't mean it in a confrontational way . I'm a bit "old school" and don't view the word "attitude" in a nasty way .

Substitute the word attitude for the word "opinion" . I've corrected my earlier post . And if you meant the "distressed people" as a bit as tongue in cheek we can put that down to another "lost in translation" .

Just curious about the 2 wins bit though .

Where do the 2 wins come from ? Who can't we beat ?

Cheers ®

FWIW, I knew Sat'day nights game was gonna be ugly as soon as I realised it was gonna be raining and had been for weeks .

This was going to render our overhead marking /height advantage ineffective as it has since football started being played.

The oppostition would also have the advantage as they would've been training in this sort of slop for said weeks .

What I did like in the 1st game was how it took 10 mins for the GC to pass the centre line .

Sure they got a couple of easy goal once over the back of the press but this will happen .

The second game brisbane had far more of the ball but couldn't capitalise , thats called winning ugly or winning when your not playing well.

Good sides find a way to do that .

We just might've just learnt a few new little lessons in a micky mouse comp before the real stuff starts .

“And it almost felt like a training drill in a way - particularly with the way we’ve practiced the zone and our structures,” - Tom Couch

Lastly , no serious injuries .

Me , I'm looking forward to seeing how we go on dry grounds when we can use our new height to advantage.

I have looked at the draw and am optimistic what the season can produce.

A finals berth is not out of the question if we play to potential and improve on the last couple of years .

Too easy mate.. Good to see some old school people still out there!!

Im not sure that it was me who said that we would only have two wins... I think that may have been somebody else.

Personally I think 4-5 wins but even saying that 3-4 of those games could go either way. Id be happy with 5.

Another note of optimism...a lot was made of the discrepancies between the Dee's and the BL's marks and possessions. But Brisbane were just passing around the backline for most of the night and as a result, the inside 50's ended up about even..

A good call mate. Hindsight is, as they say, a beatuiful thing. The games were played in horrible conditions and there were plenty of good signs. This Saturday against the pies will be more interesting.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
