NOW KICKED IN THE GUTS. i HOPE IT WAS HIS DECISION

Brad Kicked Himself in the Guts, if that is what you believe happened.

He was never going to keep the same positions as last year....Too many things had to change.

Brad has been a loyal servant for many years, despite what many people here think you don't need a C or a VC beside your name to be a leader at a footy club. I'm 100% sure that Brad will take this as a challenge to set his goals higher than previously and continue to be the elder statesman of the footy club - he will remain a 'spiritual leader' for want of a better phrase and help guide the Jack and Jack combination away from his mistakes.

It most definitely was not his decision.

Thankfully, our club gets the FD and the coach to decide who is the captain. They are not given life terms.

They are, however, given high standards to meet. And when you don't meet those standards, you make way.

Sometimes life kicks you in the guts, but if you were able to be captain of the MFC for a year, well, that's a kick in the guts I would embrace.

Actually, I'm sure "many" here would agree with you. Like the quote from A Few Good Men, you "don't need a badge on your uniform to have honour" - and I'm sure most would agree BG will set himself up for a good year and will support Union Jack throughout.

Am i the only person that is confident of Greeny having a really good year this year?

With Clark Watts and Jurrah (hopefully all fit) taking the 3 best defenders then adding in Sylvia and Howe also demanding opposition attention, Green will be further down the list of priorities for opposition than ever before.

This is where he will be most dangerous I remember a game last year, (can't think of who against but am thinking port maybe) Green was matched against someone in about their seventh game and was far too talanted and smart for him. Every time the ball came near them Green out marked him.

I can see this happening again early this year and Green running with all year and having another year like 2010.

I would like to see Green move to HBF. Melbourne have a few options in the forward line for medium talls, but lack a very good HBF. Green has shown that he can be third man up, shut down a player and provide attack. He is a very good kick, and has great courage. It can be argued that his best position is in the forward line, but I think we will have that spot covered this year.

I think for the team, and Green, it would be a great move.

Interesting you say that. Neeld stated this morning when questioned on Green, "expect to see Green play more up the field", looks as though your wish may be granted.

Does this tie in with Rawlings suggesting they are looking for another 'smaller "back..Now Brad isnt short but gives away 2-3 inches to say Chip or Garland., is shorter than Grimes and Rivers.....

just thoughts

I actually dont mind the idea of Green starting on a HBF or a wing.

If our new game plan is to short kick out of defence then long to big targets, then it makes sense to have green down back. Perhaps Green can play the quarterback role that Davey was unsuccessful at last year.

Not surprised he was subbed out.

If he can't even kick those goals, he's of absolutely no use to the team.

Even then, he's of marginal value.

Better get a hobby Brad, cos next year you'll have a bit of spare time on your hands...

I hope Brad goes out on his own terms. Id hate for him to simply be dropped and forced into retirement.

It would be nice to see a MFC player retire on there own terms n carried off the park after there final game for once.

I have no doubt the club took note of the shamozzle of an exit poor ol Junior was afforded and will look to have an organised egress., with all parties amical and informed.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
