I think that McLardy's saying that he expects the players to have a crack every week, but like the majority of posters on here doesn't expect to finish top 4 or win a flag. I'll be happy if the players show improvement week after week and show that they aren't going to fold as soon as the pressure is applied.

If we can be right in it then I'll drive home knowing we're on the right track.

Really , that what we got in 2010 .

We were happy that we saw our side heading in the right direction .

Last year was a disgrace .

This year I want more than 2010 .

What about the tram-riders? And the train travellers? Do they get a look in?

I think he also said something about cheesemakers....

A fair dinkum crack is all we expect and if they show that commitment week in week out I for one will be satisfied. Let's face it, we will be driving home after losses whether we like it or not - and that scenario applies to supporters of all clubs unless some club creates history this year.

I'm just excited that he wants to see "competitive football". Finally someone comes out and says Melbourne needs to be "competitive", it's a fresh change.

LOLz... (That is a joke right? Just checking)

3rd highest avg winning margin in 2011 (after Collingwood and Geelong) seems somewhat competitive.

Also had the 2nd highest losing margin. Competitive to me is just a general word that could apply to many things but what I am far more interested in is consistency.

That gap between the side's best and worst is the biggest thing I want to see rectified in 2012.

I want Melbourne to have a crack also.... But who is Don Mclardy? What its he bringing to the club?

Perhaps you should ask Big Jim? The McLardy fellow seems to have had something to do with supporting the MFC over the last 4 years.

You thinking of making a run at the top job Disco?

- Solid business man who can oversee a football clubs commercial activities

- Solid character who supports Reach and by all reports is a good citizen

- A unified board with the right experience in the right areas and all still part of the Stynes set up

- A man who has had ample time to make presidential statements like Kennett but instead has been steady in his support of the club without interfering (except for sacking the old coach of course)

- A president directly involved in the recruitment of the new coach and most of the football department

I don't expect Stynes like miracles with debt demolition but if McLardy can keep the current board together and motivated then we should keep going in the right direction. Jimmy was continue to be our spiritual leader as well.

Like Hawthorn since '71. The MFC must set standards that are to be expected. This may take time to reach. But winning must become second nature, losses learnt from.

Yes i know it sounds trite. But visiting Glenferrie oval in the 80's at their infamous sausage sizzles on a thursday night.

That was their bottom line Manifesto. They did not accept losses under any circumstance. The Hawks very rarely lose 2-3 in a row over 5 decades.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
