AFL says it "wasn't intentional" despite the fact that someone won a motza on him kicking the first goal of the game.

Bock says it was a "careless conversation with his mate".

Soft, inconsistent response that will only encourage further incidents.

You're kidding me. Not a GC or Bock fan in the slightest but jeez give him a break.

The man has taken absolute 100% responsibility for his actions, fully backed the AFL stance on betting and stated how much he is behind the actions they are taking. Not only did he do that he also alerted authorities the weekend that the alleged offence occured. And you think he's hard done by.

What about Maxwell who took no responsibility, got no weeks and told no-one about his indiscretions until it was bought on him.

Think he specifically needs to be commended and at least the AFL is stepping in the right direction.

He didn't know his friend had put money on it- he simply realised the day after that something may have happened and thus informed the needed sources. Heath Shaw put a physical bet on, all Nathan has done has unfortunately mentioned he would be playing in the forward line. These days that is considered the wrong thing and a 2 match penalty was given.

You want to fine him 50,000 to make a statement. All well and good to make these huge statements but you're punishing a man's life for a slip of the tongue as opposed to a physical action he intentionally committed.

how can this be the case if he recieving a harsher penalty than the most undeserving captain in afl history? maxwell didn't miss games and the only reason i can come up with as to why would be the fact that the bet lost.

"Bock co-operated fully with investigation and the investigation team is absolutely satisfied he was honest at all times."- the same cannot be said of the 2 members of the filth brigade...this is a shocking, shocking decision which only serves to highlight a growing lack of consistancy within the afl.

Anderson said the cases were on the "same tier" but Bock's offences were worse because he told two people and one of them "was known to bet on AFL football from time to time"... 90% of people i know will have a punt "from time to time". they're not even close to being on the same tier and he certainly doesn't deserve to recieve a heavier punishment.

afl missed a chance here to give Bock a well done on his forthrightness and hoensty, what incentive is there to do the right thing now? not saying that players should be betting on themselves or encouraging people to do so, but i mean really...what did HE personally do wrong except have a casual conversation with friends and family...

The Group of Friends he was with all went and laid $$ on him kicking that first goal.....(I think he knew what telling these people would do) If not he is plain foolish.

The Nick Maxwell situation set the tone....and the first rule of law...."Ignorance is no excuse"

Bock was backed from $101 into $21. Thats a plunge in my book. His family was in court over different matters at the same time, which IMO shows It wasnt an accident. He was let off and if he had have been a Krakouer i wonder if the result may have been a fair bit different.
