If we dont re appoint Schwab, why do you think the next CEO appointment will come from inside MFC? I would be surprised if the next CEO is within MFC ranks at the moment.

IMO, McLardy is out of his depth once out of Jimma's shadow. Stynes has done some wonderdful things at MFC but his ailing health has got to a stage then when he been unable to fulfil his requirements there has been no one at Board level to come forward. Its no wonder they chased Lyon as the Club seemed to be losing direction and focus.

I don't it was RPFC who raised/suggested that, why don't you ask him?

Don McLardy was the driving force behind Jimmy coming back to the club and never sought the position of President; I doubt he's comfortable with it. Jimmy's illness has to a certain extent slowed down the rebuilding and reestablishment of the club and has probably led to people getting involved in issues they shouldn't be involved in.

Like any executive in any organisation Cam is probably well remunerated and why shouldn’t he be if you want the best you have to pay for it, I said earlier we’ve had some shockers and it would be a mistake to let him go.

I did start the question with an "if". Why do you think the replacement for Cam Schwab would either be an internal or someone of the ilk of Harris/ McNamee? And i agree we dont want another one of those.

I think Stynes has been phenomenal at MFC. However, his illness and inability to fufill his roles in the past 18 months and to have stood aside earlier highlights the lack of leadership and capability at the Board level. I think its allowed some of the key Club departments to get out of kilter too. McLardy would know that with Stynes illness he would have been likely to be called into the gap at some stage. I am sure he is not comfortable with it and I dont think has the capability to do it. Its a hard job. And the fact that we have had some shockers in the past chosen by past adminstrations is not enough to retain Schwab if the Board had indeed been prepared to dismiss him. I would have thought Schwab would be walking on rice paper from this point. I am not sure he would want to extend his contract. I wonder too how much Schwab is really focussed on being a Club CEO given he seemed to dabbling in things he is interested in as opposed to what he needed to do at CEO level.

And HT: Big ticks to Neeld and Rawlings

Big improvement increasing organisational turnover by 50% in 2 years....HUGE

I think collingwood are atleast 70Million though

I'm not sure if you are asking me the same question again so just in case you are I'll elaborate.

RPFC suggested we should get rid of Schwab because of his substantial salary and because he had done all the things that we want him to do such as sign up sponsors and go through the process of signing up a new Coach. He then suggested we appoint someone from in the club to run the show; I think that about covers it.

I simply disagreed with him and suggested we keep Cam.

Jimmy doesnt want to stand down which means that McLardy is going to have to fulfil the role whether he wants or not'; whether there is friction between Cam and the board is purely speculation and whether he is equipped to handle it is also speculation. I don't know about Cam having to walk on Rice Paper, that would depend on how much credence you put on Caroline Wilson's attempted hatchett job.

Put simply Cameron Schwabb is one of the best in the business and unless the board signal their intentions to sack him I will assume he has their confidence.

I didn't say that.

I said I would understand if the club decided to get rid of him.

I wouldn't tell anyone at the club to get rid of Cameron, but these decisions are not mine to make and the landscape has changed in the past year in all different kinds of ways.

It's a possibility RobbieF.

A distinct one, whether or not you believe he was close to the end in the days before 186.

If the board wish to save some cash and promote from within instead of paying for Schwab or a similarly waged individual I will completely understand as the major decisions will have already been made: head coach, head of FD, fitness staff, major sponsors, signing of KPF, and re-signings of key players (ie Trengove) will have been completed by the end of 2012.

These decisions require a great CEO.

But they are cyclical. And I would completely understand if the board decided to move on Cameron at the end of next year.

That's right you stopped short of suggesting it outright: didn't you.

I guess you are just hinting at it, correct?

Whether or not I believe he was near the end after 186? You seem to think by that he was; if you don't know then why would you post that?

The possibility of it, yes.

If we can can afford him, he stays out of Neeld's way, and he stops getting loans off the club, I would have him in perpetuity, RF.

He is very good at what he does and a Demon at heart.

But I am just saying that in reality he may not be here in a year's time.

Ever run a business: if you have you will know that you need good people to work for you and they're hard to get?

You refer to loans, from what I understand there has only been one; do you know of others?

Schwab is a mixture of the old fashioned club secretary cloth that he is cut from and the experienced and highly qualified modern day CEO that his positon dictates.

For mine Schwab and Connoly were on the money with their doubts about Bailey's attacking game plan. The more experienced players did I think resent Tim Harrington's role in getting our player payments in order after the awarding of very lucrative contracts to the likes of Maclean, Bruce and Yze and the insistence of 1 year deals for veterans.

No doubt the board has reminded him to focus on the commercial aspect - the 1 year extension was certainly a shot across his bow in that regard - but no doubt the appointments made on the football side give everyone more confidence in the performance of the football department The appointment of Lyon as Football Director and then his permanent successor will also result in the waters being less muddied than were post Leoncelli's resignation and then with an obviously struggling Stynes.

For mine he stays on as CEO. Schwab is an important reason why this club is in the best position it has been in in my nearly 40 years of being a supporter. It is important not to scapegoat Schwab as the only one at fault in what was a very difficult year for the Dees but which has ended with the club in a strong position on and off the field.

Go the Dees!

I realise Cameron is very good at what he does and I really wish you would just take what I say at face value here - I want him to stay, he may not.

As for the plural of loan - that was ancient history, but nevertheless relevant.

Settle Daisy settle. I have said no more (with ifs) that has been put on the public record by the media with Caro being just one of the sources. And I understand that whats on the public record is not necessarily rumour. And its relevant to an assessment of Schwab what the Board/CS do in regard to future contract.

I wouldn't tell anyone at the club to get rid of Cameron, but these decisions are not mine to make and the landscape has changed in the past year in all different kinds of ways.

The Board mightnt renew his contract or Schwab might not accept a renewal. What has been done is done. It will be an interesting year.

After 186 the Board had to let go of somebody, and that "somebody" had to be either the coach or the CEO, especially after the Board had only just become aware of the state of the relationship between the two. At the time it wouldn't have been at all obvious to the Board whether it should be CS or DB. But they had to make a decision, and it went against Bailey, though there were clearly reservations about it, and they put Cam on notice according to these reservations. That was as good as they could have done at the time, and only time would tell whether their decision was right or not.

I'm confident that time will show that they did make the right decision, if it hasn't already, and that their reservations about Cam are much less now than they would have been then.

And I'd expect Cam to be much more comfortable with the current coaching ethos than the previous one.

I wonder how much of that Andrew's review Cam actually tried to implement the recommendations, hence some feeling like their toes were being stomped on?

Yes the Andrews Report is the Wild Card in all of this isn't it.....has it been implemented, shelved or diluted?

Off twitter. Going nowhere and why should he? Some nice arguments above but Cam loves this club. He'll be here when that flag finally arrives.

The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
