Mitch Clark is a Demon - confirmed on the Fremantle site and MFC twitter over an hour ago.

Welcome to the Melbourne Football Club Mitch Clark.

We seem to be doing EVERYTHING right.......off the field at least !

Not the bridesmaid this year! Welcome on board Mitch, and here is your name badge. Yes, I know it says Jack, that's just how we like it around here.

Where do you play him ? Ff or chf ? Will we lose a ruck now , ? Spencer having jamar , martin gawn and now clark

Spencer is probably a top bloke, but he is not cut out for AFL footy. He is taking up a position on our list, he needs to get the chop, maybe bringing Mitch in will only further make this happen.

Hell, yes! I'm stoked about this. Every time I watched him play this year, I really saw good signs from him. I'm a very happy chicken.

Stoked with this!

Awesome that we were finally able to land a big fish - one that nearly got All Australian in 2009. The guy knows how to kick a sausage and he all of a sudden makes our fwd line look so much more potent with Jurrah, Watts, Howe, Sylvia and Petterd.

Pick 12 is expensive but we still have Scully compo picks to use next year.

Congrats Dees!

Pick 12 in a draft heavily compromised by the GWs concessions is a good deal for mine.

He gives us important flexibility in the age of the substitute. Can play forward and ruck and is mobile.

He gives us so many options now its not funny....forward or ruck....in either position he would free up watts, jurrah, martin

Not even the Manc b@stards equalising has taken the smile off my face

Whipped this together just for fun not perfect (Couldnt get the right jumper to match) but it will do as im sure we will get some real photos soon enough. Enjoy

Wow, its surprising how so many players look good in Red and Blue! But Mitch will fit right in!

You know what, I'm glad we don't have rotten colours like Yellow and Brown! (Poos and Wees!)

Unbelievable! Melb finally gets their man. This guy was borderline superstar a year ago. Pick 12 in a week draft. Take that.

I just got home...and read this. Such surprising news. In a pleasant way, of course.

This is great news for this club. Clark gives us what we have needed for a while now, at an age that is perfect for our list. I welcome this addition to the club wholeheartedly, and I hope that it works out like it has the potential to do.

Well....Not to gloat....But i just thought I would check out what the Fremantle supporters think of the MFC stealing Mitch away from their club..

Re:Clark Deal Done? #375907

Hope this deal gets done. It is refreshing to hear a player express himself so well, particularly the way he thanked the Dees for their generous offer but stating that it isn't always about the money and that he just wants to return back to WA and play for Freo.

Re:Clark Deal Done? #376009

Sucked in Melbourne I say... spending $500,000/year for 4 years on a bloke who's most notable act on the field this year was smash Jonathon Brown's face (injuring himself in the process) and lie on the ground waiting for someone to check up on him while the whole medical team, runners, waterboys rushing to the captain's aid.

Seriously...this is just a snapshot of what was said....

"Demons paid overs for an average player" " Demons are getting a bloke who sold his granny for cash" "Pick 12 and $$$$ for a player that hasn't proved himself"

Do opposing fans realise how young our team is? How many quality picks we have gotten over the years? Where our list is at the moment? Getting someone of his calibre to give us more structure and a focal point was crucial! Paying "overs" and giving away pick 12 (by the way we got 2 first rounders for Scully) it is a WIN - WIN!

Great day for the MFC! We needed to respond after a terrible year and with a new coach, new attitude and our recruiters working some magic, the demons are making some serious statements..

I think this is a shocking move. I do not think he will be our #1 ruck over Jamar, and I do not rate him that highly as a forward, no way was he worth pick 12, nor that amount of $

Maybe if he had done something in his career so far, but all I remember of him is some nice flashes of play and a lot of (so called) tough man antics.

I truly hope I am proved wrong on this.

Great get MFC he will break packs open take the best defender which is what we need. I doubt he will even play ruck which allows us to play Jamar and Martin in the same game and Gawn can develop in the 2s.

This is the first big name we have landed since Peter Moore and Kelvin Templeton. It's about time! Very very exciting times ahead.

It's defiantly just pick 12? Because I think that is a fantastic move! He was pick 9 in his draft year, a big man who take time, and he is only mid 20's, so his best footy you would think is in front of him.

This is a compromised draft, that is also a weak draft from all reports, so pick 12 may not be so great.

We have 3 first round draft picks, 3 of them, in next years draft. All reports are that next years crop is a bumper crop.

My guess is that we are front loading his contract enormously. This is part of the reason he found the offer so attractive. I doubt we would of paid 100% of the salary cap. I'm confident in the final 2 years of his contract, it is not going to take up a large amount of room in our cap, we actually will probably be paying unders for him. From a list managements perspective, anything put in this years cap is "free money" in a way as we need to get to 100%.

Putting these factors together, I really don't think there is much to dislike about this move

Fantastic pickup! Will be an integral cog in the coming years.

So the same pick we used in a non compromised draft was used to get Lucas cook. Now we use it to get Mitch Clark in a comprimised draft. We chucked some extra cash out there now we don't have to pay ridiculous money for a 20 year old. Can't help but be happy about that!

I would be overjoyed if we played like them.

God I hope he is better than the last one!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
