THE GUIDE FOR THOSE WHO DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT THE DRAFT
Demonworship replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
A good summary but isn't it true that we have already picked the best player from this year's draft, Mitch Clark? -
He isn't bagging anyone. He is simply saying that top level players like Davey and Watts have to perform. There's nothing wrong with that.
-
What's interesting here is that Neeld is actually naming names: Watts, Davey and Morton have all been put on notice. By going public, he is putting pressure on them to get their acts together. Very smart

The piece in The Age makes it clear what happened. Aussie was supposed to see the surgeon who operated on his ankle on October 10, he didn't show up. He did not come to training yesterday, he is still up in the NT. Aussie sacked the MFC, that's what's happened. So the club had no choice.
-
Thanks Footynut, that's fantastic information. We really appreciate it. But reading through it, you would say that we won't necessarily be firing on all four cylinders next year because the players are, in Neeld's view, so far off where he needs them to be. So maybe it will start kicking in around 2013.

There is certainly a vendetta against the MFC. That's why he recruited Junior who just turned 35.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCH CLARK
Demonworship replied to waynewussell's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is the first big name we have landed since Peter Moore and Kelvin Templeton. It's about time! Very very exciting times ahead. -

From what I have been told, there is a view inside the club that Bailey has been a good development coach but that we need someone new to move us into the new phase and win a Premiership. I have been told by one source that the club has spoken to Roos and Clarkson. Roos has told them he is not interested in coming back as a coach, no word on Clarkson.
-
It's a great read and made me feel proud to be part of this great club. The MFC is being really innovative with the way it deals with indigenous players, way ahead of the rest. We should all be proud

It's interesting that PJ is training with us again. The word I heard today from someone closely connected with the club is that they are looking to rookie him for next year

GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY - A GIANT COMPROMISE
Demonworship replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Atually I like how Roy and HG describe them: the Great Western WSydney Arbibs -
The bottom line is this: Bruce did not figure in our long term plans, given that we're looking at Premierships from 2013 and beyond. At his age, and with the talent on our list, how could anyone be guaranteed a game every week. The club did the right thing.

The word is that Maric wants out. I have been told by Club sources that he can't see himself getting a run in the seniors with the likes of Jetta and Aussie filling the role. I think a trade for Maric looks likely
-
The word around the traps is that GC has offered him two years plus $450,000 more than what Melbourne is offering. The only problem for Bruce is that he hates flying, which he would be doing a lot of if he went to the GC. And then he has to think about what he does after he retires. Would he better staying here. All this is in the mix, I've been told
-
Apparently it's not happening. The one to watch out for is Cameron Bruce. My mail is Gold Coast has offered him three years plus $450,000 more than what he's getting now. Melbourne is offering two years. On the other hand, the word is that Bruce hates flying which he'd be doing all the time playing for Gold Coast. Watch this space
-
It's exciting but let's not get carried away. Schwab says the big fellas take about five years to develop. Take a look at how long it took them to get Jamar up to a high standard. Gawn should be good, but we will probably have to wait a few years.
-
Rivers' great strength has always been his ability to read the play. That's why we always see him appearing out of nowhere to take a mark, he would be a hard player to tag. I agree with you. As our backline develops, we can free him up for the forward line where he could do some serious damage

Melbourne player wants to go to the Gold Coast
Demonworship replied to MelbournePassion's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bruce turns 31 this year and would be in the twilight of his career. So the question is what can we get for him? Another Jack Grimes? -
Spot on DJ. People seem to forget that it takes years and years to develop big players. It wasn't that many years ago that people were writing off Jamar. Spencer is still raw but he shows plenty of promise and aggro. He will grow into the role, just as Jamar did

Yeah I had problems with the server too. After the first quarter, there was no connection. Thanks KC and all of you for the updates, it's been much appeciated.

30 Games Plus 3 Players Away Form Being Awesome.
Demonworship replied to a topic in Melbourne Demons
I think we have to remember that it took Jamar many years to become what he is today. Don't forget that for many years, people were saying he didn't have what it takes. We are always being told big players take time to develop. So we shouldn't write off Spencer, Gawn, PJ and Fitzpatrick -
For what it's worth, this is from Cameron Schwab on Twitter: Had a few comments about our forward line. Project it forward a few years with a developed Jurrah, Watts, Bennell, Jetta, Morton +++
