The Josh Caddy Thread

Goldcoast had still taken players out of the draft who would have most likely been before 7, matera and May for starters

The draft was labelled weak in comparison to 2012, it may be average

And sorry i was 2 picks off,

Tut Tut, that will never do. Stand in the corner music maestro liurtzy

Thought the same thing whilst reading the Bombers interest in him this morning in Sunraysia country on hol's. At that time I didn't know that Clark had done a u-turn. Bit slow up here...

Still, am interested in improving the midfield and Caddy fits the bill IMO. If we're on the improve next season we won't have an early pick (other than Viney) and the compo picks will fall mid to late round. This kid is aggressive and I liked him as a draft prospect last year.

I say go for it. I wonder what GC would want in the way of player(s)....as well as one of our compo picks ?

The club would have to have the front running surely...

Agree.

Someone suggested compo + Warnock + Spencer. That should do. Hell, I'd throw both compo picks and Warnock.

A Caddy/Viney combo in the midfield would be damaging. It's worth throwing all Scully picks at. I'm confident we can land this man after landing Clark.

If we do this we are really going places!

We all want signings but i dont see how this kid can be worth 2 top 15 picks after 2 games?

I seem to be the only one not all over him though, maybe i missed it all

No Jordie, I agree. Theres a rush of blood to the head after Clarks signing but Im sure TH will be carefully planning the allocation of these picks. Id like to see the club keep them for next year. After a season of GWS playing their new kids there may emerge some guns that dont want to stay in sydney. as well as the high demand for 1st round picks from other clubs.

Just ventured to the Goldcoast boards on BF, one of the Brisbane moderators said he was in the know about Caddy, and that Essendon were up to sneaky buggers, of the highest order, this guy doesnt talk crap, and was PMing Suns guys last night around 10, wouldnt post the news. interesting.

We might see the Dee's trade one compo pick + a player for Caddy. Possibly even 36 or 39 (Bate?) also. If we dont, well we will have two super compo picks too keep. Allows us too keep upper hand next season.

I dont think the Bombers can do the deal. But the Tigers could!

Bombers very little chance.

I get the feeling Gold Coast know we're likely to be the only contenders that can offer what they want, or enough, hence their public demand for 2 compensation picks (who else has 2?).

We'd be mugs to hand over the 2 picks for Caddy though.

I also get the feeling that the "sneaky buggers" comment, is the ruse about Caddy's old man's heart condition and the subsequent "need" to go home.

As others have said, if he were that desperate, Caddy would be canvassing all Melbourne clubs, willing to go anywhere to get it done - not aiming for Essendon and having last minute deals scraped together.

It'd also have been very publicly on the radar from day one of trade week.

Although, this is all out of the mouth of the Essendon worshipping Mark Robinson...

i have it from good authority (and i'm not saying who so don't ask) that he would love to come to the dees, get the deal done please!!!

You don't need to name names... is the "good authority" from within one of the clubs or caddy's management company... if not, then it is hardly any authority at all. If I had a dollar for every post that stated the info was "on good authority", I would have as many dollars as there are posts that say the info is "on good authority".

Also spoke about Suns needing a ruckman. I would offer compo pick, Spencer and Warnock if they want him. That trumps Bombers by a mile unless they throw in star player. Their best pick is 19. That would mean we have replaced the bloke who left with Caddy and another compo pick next year.

GC are going to need to continually bolster stocks for a while yet . Next season they come back to the pack in selections. Mijgth very well appeal. The package deal you suggest holds some water.;)

Hopefully this will be a similar scenario (but cheaper) to that of the Clark signing - the MFC will keep their cards very close to their chest and make a move when it is likely to be most effective; I doubt very much that they are sitting on their hands.

The Bombers now have Gumbleton and Hooker on the table together with pick # 19. Apparently still a long way off meeting GC requirements and the parties are now in mediation.

I think your right Jordie.

May have been caught up in the trading excitement.

He's not proven anything yet, and isn't worth 2 top 15 picks. One pick + steak knives.

Would we offer anything for Hooker? He's a decent KP defender isn't he? Maybe we could get involved in a 3-way trade. We need someone to take the gorilla forwards/resting ruckman still. Martin may be able to fill that role now that we have Clark up forward but just a thought. If not is there anyone else on Essendon's list we would want who they might give up for a compo pick? (obviously not Hurley, Heppell etc)

If we are going to get him it better be quick. I think we will be tied up sorting out bate and warnock.

Have a sneaking supsicion its all incestuous...and that one affects another and so on.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
