Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I can't recall acquiring much in any trade period over the last little while. But refresh my memory if you can think of anyone?!

I think that Beamer is the only player on our list that we have got through trades. Joel Mac was PSD so he doesn't count. Is there anyone else?

Nobody on the current list. Do the picks we got in return for players traded by us count? Jack Grimes was who we got out of trading Travis Johnstone to Brisbane. And we can not forget Jordy Gysberts for Brock McLean.

John Meesen (as far as I can recall) is the last AFL experienced player to come to us via a trade.

It was a saying from many years ago; bigger than Ben-Hur a film that when it came out was a massive production with a cast of thousands.

Robbief how sad is it that you have to explain that one.

God I am getting old!

I think we are agreeing with each other. The picks for Trav and Brock were great but again I refer to a player we got in trade week who improved our list. I can't think of anyone either.

Can you blame him? Who have we got in trade week in the last few years as a great trade for us. I said who, not what ( the Brock pick was great and the MFC deserves credit for that).

In the last 4 years we have been more focused on rebuilding through youth and the club was offloading players for picks so of course we didn't get much...

... granted that this is likely to make us less appealing to players in trade week.

And he was for the pick that we got for losing Scott Thompson, we are behind on that deal.

Byron Pickett before him.

Would Lisle play the role that we selected Cook for? If so what does the future hold for him?

No one touched this RobbieF

Lisle plays 2012 and Cook 2014.

Well I think that would be the theory.

Where does Fitzpatrick fit?

Lisle could come straight in next season and in 2013 you'd look at rotating all 3 depending on injuries etc.

I'm well aware of the saying.

Well, you stated: "He's big, strong, and a great mark. He needs to find consistency, but should be coming into his own. I endorse him as a potential recruit." - now does the "is he bigger than you, Ben?" comment make sense?

Saw Lisle play a bit in his junior years (his year 12 really) and didn't rate him at all. He shows glimpses of potential but never really dominated a game, even in the APS competition where he should have looked a class above. He's done nothing to show me otherwise since he got drafted. Would be pretty disappointed if we picked him up

My concern is the hawks tradtionally don't give much away.

They have a preputation for getting good players and giving away average players or ones past their prime.

If they want to trade Lisle I am instantly on guard.

Nobody trades away big key position players if they are any good!! This guy is their version of Warnock, only younger and slightly more coordinated. Hawthorn has made an art form out of trading away spuds and making their new clubs think they have won lotto!!

if it ends up being a 3rd round pick for him then so be it cant harm too much, but if anything higher ... sake why not get games into Fitzpatrick & Cook and see if they are going to have what it takes at AFL level. Still think Cook if he gets a body will be a good player just needs bit of time as most tall kids do.

Heffernan?

Ellis?

Read?

Turley?

Powell?

Not great, were they?

But we got some good ones Cattogio, Gallagher and a couple of duds from Essendon who escape my mind at the moment.

Turley was the best, he was about 32 when we recruited him in a trade for Andy Lovell who went on to have a pretty good career with West Coast whereas Turls lasted 1 year with us.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
