I have been told today that Paul Satterley current coach at Werribee has been appointed to our coaching panel. This rumour has been passed on by a current Werribee player (see background to Slats where he coached with Neeld at Western Jets,http://www.sportingpulse.com/club_info.cgi?client=1-118-10455-102874-9815582&sID=56269&&news_task=DETAIL&articleID=13582180&sectionID=56269 )

Interesting JCB. He took the partially affiliate club with Nth Melb to the Preliminary Final this year in his first year as senior coach of Werribee. They finished well outside the eight last year with Simon Atkins as coach. Good communicator I understand.

Well played JCB.

Yes HT- a very good communicator and developer.I wouldn't be surprised if he even took over the reigns at Casey. However, my informant says he has taken a role as a line assistant-- whatever that role is... maybe as a assistant to a BACKLINE coach .My informat is very surprised as he met with him last night to discuss playing with the Tigers next year. Slats is signed to coach in 2012 therefore must have a clause in his contract.

Yeah I see that on the link. Two year contract. From what I understand this was Werribee's first full time senior coach.

What about Gotch/Casey ?

Correct- his contract is finished both as a Developing coach at the MFC & Casey. However, just confirmed from source /contact that it is a Ass.Line role--whatever that means.

what will be his domain ?

It's purely an assumption, but from that I assume that the quoted "8 FT coaches" does not include blokes like Dunbar, Viney or O'Donnell.

Rather we will have a setup with a senior coach across all lines - centre, back and forward - and each of those wil have an assistant.

If so, surely it is a proactive and innovative setup.

In any case, I hope we get Gary Ayres as an assistant.

Unless he has some issues with taking orders, I imagine he'll be highly sought after.

last time I looked Neeld was in charge of the whole shooting match and Im lead to believe he has had some success with a current midfield,

He was good enough for St Kilda.

He was a bad fit for the backline, but we filled the role as best we could after Wellman left us in the lurch.

Uneducated comment.

How can you possibly say that?

Highly respected in the industry .... midfield coach at St Kilda in 2010.....

Also the new Coach was the Mid Field Coach in the premiership team - He should know if Royal can coach a midfield

DERP!

Honestly, how would we know?

West was an excellent addition 12 months ago and a disaster 2 weeks ago.

Royal is an experienced assitant coach who has worked under many different coaches and thinks Bailey was soft on the guys.

That's good enough for me at this stage.

So Brad is moving into a "Greaves" type role at the MFC or another club?

100% correct.

I have no idea how good our assistants were in 2011.

At the end of the day they do not run out on the ground to play.

Cannot confirm role but as already stated Slats would be an Assistant to a line role..I guess as an Assistant backline coach.

I am guessing here but I assume

We will have Back line coach & An Assistant,Forward coach and an Assistant,Midfield coach and an Assistant.

Senior coach and a Senior Assistant coach along with the developing squad coaching team.

This is what I believe Mark wants to put in place.

Thanks for the heads Up Monster Head

HIs CV is impressive reading.

One thing that is very clear Neeld knows exactly who & what he wants!

Gee trying to outdo me re your Avatar OMR.. Re Satterley, I agree with your point regarding CV..I like that he has gave up a promising business career for his passion only 1 year ago- therefore would be totally committed to job on hand.

Another name from Neeld's past. He's building a team that he knows and trusts rather than one based on reputation alone.

Good.

Isn't that nepotism...

That's bad.

Not really. It is just filling your coaching panel with people you already know can do the job you need them to. You need people who are receptive and conducive to your management style. People unknown to you can be good also, like a fresh pair of eyes and an intelligent counter if needed. Trust however takes time to build, and until it is built, sometimes the lack of it can slow the output and hinder the achievement of team goals. So ... put in people you know so you can avoid the trust building issue.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
