Jack Watts panelist on The Footy Show tonight

Featured Replies

Oh my god I always forget that The Footy Show sucks and just enjoy it for what it is!!

Then some randoms on a forum remind me that it is sexist dribble and then I just stop watching it.... Thank god people love mentioning that they don't like it so we all know and can now be further educated and grown up.

Looking forward to watching The Footy Show with the other thousands of people who do.

You like the show.

Others do not.

Their judgment is surely just as valuable as yours?

Let it go, and watch your show...

I remember when Tom Scully was on it he stated that the Melbourne Football Club was a great place to START his career....

Exactly my point...

that was jack trengove...

I dont generally watch it cos most of it is rubbish and we rarely have any mention however I thought cos we have our new coach and all that it might feature some Demon news and now, if tis true that Jack will be on, well I will tape it and watch it tomorrow.. its on too late here and some of us like our beauty sleep..

plus the added benefit of taping it is the rubbish can just be fast forwarded and only have the good bits..

im not a massive of the show but i still give it a look it has its moments but have always wondered why they need to put it on at 930?? by the time they stop talking crap its 10.15 and they havent read a team yet!! its on way to late!

I like the Footy Show. Not a serious take on footy (plenty of other shows exist for that), but fun nonetheless.

Yeah plus 1, it's a bit of fun, and they normally have some pretty decent exclusives or interviews for the serious footy nuts. I don't mind it

Ah really? [censored], it's too bad I'm working, the past few weeks it's been nothing but Collingwood, Hawthorn and Geelong on the panel. Do channel 9 have an iview like abc?

so why do Tiges get "Jumping" Jack, Deledio & Cotchin on it

why do Lions get Browny on it every 2nd week

why do the dogs get Barry Hall, Cooney, etc on it every couple of weeks

why do north get Boomer, petrie, swallow, etc

out of all the Melbourne clubs we are on it the least.. plus I dont see why us sucking should prevent our players being on a show?

if the argument was most of our players dont have personalities then I guess that is a fair enough..

Cooko, I personally think it hasn't been about our form on the field - it has been about our lack of players with personality that comes across on camera.

Bruce and Davey arent exactly extroverts.

Green and Moloney typify the term "wooden".

Sylvia is passable, but nothing special.

You wouldn't get much out of Jurrah in that environment.

That's not to say that they are in any way bad people.

We just unfortunately have had a period where our best players have not been gold media performers.

I think that will soon change.

$8,000 per appearence. Not a bad little earner for Jack.

because of Newman and his gutter talk

Ew, The Footy Show.

I can't remember exactly what it was to be honest, but I do remember it mentioned around the time Beamer was on earlier this year - which had been the first time in a couple of years that there had been anyone on the panel, and someone mentioned in the thread on here that it was to do with DB.

I highly doubt that he'd get a say in whether players went on the show or not.

That is the way I will watch as well Deb.....

I don't normally watch it, as it is not on till midnight up here and I usually forget (plus I ignore the NRL version with all I have).

But I will put the IQ to work and enjoy whatever Jack has to say tomorrow!!!

And as well all the players mention have at various times made game winning performances.

We have had bugger all of those types.

We have had a captain this year that has struggled to justify his spot in the team

As well the MFC comes across to lots of outside fans as upper crust snobs.

But the most simple answer is we do not rate.

TV puts on people who draw a crowd.

The MFC is poor at that.

We start winning games and making the finals and watch the player

numbers rise on the show.

There is only one Footy show worth watching-"Marngrook"

I just get annoyed by the difference between 'what it is' and 'what it could be if done right'. I wish there was more competition out there to force them to make the hard calls to improve it. And that's all I'm contributing to the 'Footy Show' debate!

that was jack trengove...

Yeah your right.

This is funny reading, had the wrong guy!!

Barely 10 minutes in and a pubic hair joke. Record?

Jack Watts.... wow!!

Yeah... Brownless is an immediate turn off for me, and Braysnore is horrendous, but did I just hear Jack call Shuey his mate? Must be coming to Melb in the PSD!

Marngrook has it all over these blokey twits

Certainly does... This is the credible show.

Missed the show, what else was said??

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
