Scott Burns with Neil Craig

The Hun is now stating that Mark Neeld is set to be offered the Melbourne Coaching job.

Looks like the Burns and Craig rumor could just be another unfounded one.

here's the link: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/collingwood-assistant-coach-mark-neeld-poised-to-coach-demons/story-e6frf9jf-1226139072436

Unlike this rock solid Journalism lol.... its all the same cr*p

Guest Jack Donaghy

Really, after Burns' name was released last night on TFS, rumours of Neeld needed to be leaked too just to appease the members.

If Burns was suddenly signed by Adelaide this afternoon, it would look like Neeld was our 2nd or 3rd choice.

Already people are up in arms over "losing" Ross Lyon, and our "amateurish approach."

I'm inclined to think this is just careful management of supporters' expectations.

*Bump*

Interesting twists! Although maybe Craig stays on as coach with the baton being passed to Burns when he is ready.

With the way things are playing out over in the west if Burns gets overlooked for the gig at the Weagles this scenario could play out.

Burns is highly respected and is apparently big on culture and connecting with the players.

There is an existing connection as Burns was also coached by Craig at Norwood in the SANFL before he was recruited to the filth.

No way. PJ has already stated that experience is a required quality in the next senior coach.

Bahhahahahaha NO!!!

really, what about going for an experienced coach, don't go down this road again

Tier 1 applicants only this time

Obviously my bump was misunderstood!!!!!

I was talking Craig stays on as coach with Burns the assistant and heir apparent.

This was my first sentence - quote -" Interesting twists! Although maybe Craig stays on as coach with the baton being passed to Burns when he is ready."

Or do I take it everybody assumes Craig won't get the gig?

The point is to finish the season we play Brisbane, North Melbourne, GWS, Gold Coast, Fremantle, Adelaide and Bulldogs, aside from getting us playing better footy, he has only 1 win to his name which we just fell over the line in. Now i can only see 1 maybe 2 wins to finish off the year. Even the GWS game could be a real danger game and the dogs at etihad, well we already stink at etihad.

In saying that i dont really want to appoint someone that could only get 2 or 3 wins would rather dig deeper for a proven performing like Eade or Williams. Plus Craig had all the rescources at the crows and could not get them to a Grand Final!

Rubbish.

You are wrong on so many levels.....

The point in 'reality' is....

1 win from 4 games of which 2 were against Geelong and Sydney...... do you expect the man to perform the impossible after the mental crap the team has been through this year and last. It's going to take time to build their confidence again. The players already acknowledge that the tide is turning.

Proven performer? Although Williams has a cup to his name neither he nor Eade is more or less a proven performer than Craig.

Craig had them consistently performing with 2 preliminary, 2 eliminations and a semi final in that order.

If not for injuries he could have more than 1 cup to his name as Adelaide coach.

He was also credited with helping devise the fitness regime which led to the crows back to back premierships in 97-98 as fitness adviser and assistant coach.

Any 3 of those candidates I would be happy with but your attitude towards and knowledge of Craig in misunderstood at best.

Yes indeed bb59!!

I was actually looking to see if Craig and Burns had crossed paths before as they are both from SA and this thread popped up.

Always interesting, and most times amusing reading with hindsight!

Hey mate Eade was far less resourced at the Dogs and Swans. Craig had the world at the crows facilities, players, members, sponsorship. Eade had to battle with all that at both clubs. I'm not against Craig at all but I believe we need a big group of quality coaches who have been there done that!!!

Agree Eade did a great job with what was at hand. Although IMO Craig also did a great job. Equally deserving as far as I'm concerned.

Williams has the X factor but am reserved as to whether he would be the correct 'fit'. Maybe he is just what we need?? Maybe not??

Either way we will have a better coach than the last 7 yrs not including Craig

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
