The Scott Gumbleton Thread

An injury riddled start to his career but showed genuine signs in 2010 that he could become a quality KPF.

If he comes good our forward line suddenly looks seriously potent:

Jurrah Gumbleton Davey

Petterd Watts Sylvia

The Bombers have made enquiries about a couple of our players recently, including Jones. Perhaps it's worth a punt to sacrifice a player

of that type in order to get Gumby to the club.

If he comes good it would dramatically improve the balance and quality of our forward line.

This is one risk I reckon is worth taking.

Thoughts?

He's just the type we need, tall, skinny, no hope of gaining weight and injury prone. He'd fit in well at Casey. We could trade him for Morton or...

No offence RR, but no thanks.

197cm 94kg and if you read the profile on the Essendon board they say he is still too light. The criticism was that he gets pushed out the way too easily.

On the Essendon site they have him as 197cm/97cm. Hardly too light. The criticism of him reflects leg strength not weight. I would have thought his fitness for AFL and not his weight was a problem

Other AFL footballers.....

Fletcher 198/92

Ryder 196/92

Hurley 193/92

Reid 195/91

Richards 193/92

Kozi 197/93

Dawson 195/95

Gilbert 194/90

At 22 he could still build muscle tone and body mass. Its his fitness for AFL that is the issue.

Too great a risk...........move mountains to get Butcher instead......we don't need Luke Molan ver 2.0!

Agree but outbidding other clubs isn't our strong suit. Maybe if we finish 14th we could put ourselves in a good bargaining/trading/drafting place. Bring in the kids.

Nathan Jones is non touchable, would we trade Frawley, Trengove, Garland? The answer would be a definite no, and Jones should be included in this group of non touchable trades. He is one of the ''grunts'' of the team and we never see him give up, not like some of our so called other very hot or very cold team members.

Jones for Gumbleton? Drugs are bad mmmkay.

Gumbleton is made out of glass. No thanks!

I don't think we would get any better moving Dunn for Gumbleton. At least Dunny can stay fit. As for Bate- trade doesn't help either team.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
