Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Aaron Davey - 150 Games

Aaron Davey, our current vice-captain, plays his 150th game for the Melbourne Football Club this weekend.

Congratulations Aaron on some sprakling football, plenty of excitement and a great bridge for indigenous lads like Wonna and LJ. Lets hope we some flashes of the flash this weekend with you running back into some form and fitness getting ready for a big 2012!

Aaron is one of my all-time favourites. We got a gem when we found him after he created quite a buzz at Port. I watched him up close in pre-season training at Princes Park. Couldn't believe how lightly built he was, and those skinny legs were like toothpicks. Turns out he was a Flash! I couldn't believe the grief he copped when retaliating to the taggers. He would get caught by the umps sticking up for himself and ended up reported more than once. He gradually learnt to deal with the niggle, but then he copped criticism for being lily-livered. All the while his detractors seemed oblivious to his brilliance. There hasn't been a more skillful ball-handler at the club since Robbie. Now he succumbs to injuries and loss of form and confidence... Reading the derogatory comments of some you would think he was devoid of talent or commitment. I expect to see him splatter egg all over the faces of the fickle, poisonous scribes who frequent these places. If he does not rise again I thank him on behalf of my kids for some of the most explosive bursts from the congestion, and laser-like passes to a concealed target that they are ever likely to witness.

I hope he plays well too because he's bloody lucky to be getting a run on current form.

Go Dee's.

But I have this bad feeling that the only egg I will see this year is in the omlette I am having for lunch.

I hate to say it, because I love the bloke so much, but he was next to useless today.

What made me cringe was when he shirked from the contest on the Olympic Stand wing and put the elbow up. At least that's how I saw it. His kck out of bound was also un-Flash like.

He's really lost confidence in his game and just doesn't look like he want to compete close in to the contest.

It breaks my heart as he has always been the excitement machine that could break games apart.

I hope for his sake he has a great pre season and goes into next season with a new lease on life and his game!

Aaron was very disappointing today..especially today! He's just not playing with any flair like he used to and he doesn't seem as keen as he once was. Whether it's a loss in confidence, he should still work hard at trying to get the ball!

Saw a very interesting incident late in the second quarter.

A Melbourne supporter sitting near the Melbourne bench (not in the MCC members area, in the MelbourneFC reserved seating area) obvious said something to him regards his performance because Aaron mouthed something back at him very angrilly. When he went back on the ground he was clearly still angry as that's when he collected the Richmond guy (missed who it was) with his elbow.

Aaron has always been one of my favourite players and I thought his second half was an a good improvement.

I reckon what Aaron needs is a real good sport physcologist. At his best he is a match winner, just at the moment he is far too easily undone by close tagging and a bit of niggling.

It's really sad to see the way he's been performing this year, given what he is capable of. If it hadn't have been his 150th game yesterday, reckon he would have been at Casey. Alas, surely he will spend the rest of the season at Casey (if he's not rubbed out by the Match Review Panel). Hopefully he'll rediscover his flair and dash under our new Coach over the Summer.

Front runner, not a leader.

He's a follower. Leaders take the wheel when the vehicles going to crash.

He's too scared of his own shadow to even think about the team.

A flash in the Pan, it's up too Him Now. Just how he wants to go on. We can't afford small players who get pushed off the ball by the likes of 'Pull Ups', and don't offer Any resistance.

Go Hard, Or go Home!

That now seems a certainty old dee! An extremely ineffective milestone game from Aaron on the weekend, and the probability of a 'holiday' compliments of the MRP. Hope you enjoyed the omlette.

I did with a nice little Pinot Gris.

I few weeks back I suggested a trade might be in order for AD

But unfortunately there would be no takers at present.

Have we seen the last of him?

I think he has a contract for next year but I am not sure where you play him nowadays.

Perhaps the summer lay off may produce a better result in 2012.

I think miracles are all that is left now.

Would not be surprised if he retires at end of the year. I hope not, but I just have a feeling....

if you had a contract for $500 000 would you retire?

They would have to drag me out with a jumbo jet.

Lets hope he finds some form in 2012

It's players like Aaron Davey that Melbourne need to avoid playing. These apparent "leaders" of our club go missing when a hard ball is there to be won. It's these kind of "front running" players that cause us to be an up and down team. If our players would consitantly put ther head over the ball (and not only every 2-3 games)we would be in much better shape than we are now.

Brent Moloney is a perfect example of the above. He generaly has his good games against lower ranked sides that us. Everytime he recieves a little bit of attention he tends to go missing.

He is a soft outside player. That can work and be an effective player but to do that he would need to run his butt of all game. He doesn't do that! He fails to run hard, spread and engage in play. Not sure where to for Aaron, people have mentioned he has runs on the board, I don't think Tendulkar has enough runs on the board for how Davey is playing. Shouldn't be seen at AFL level again this regardless of MRP. I was never for him coming back into the team to be honest.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
