Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Eade won't be coaching the Dogs next year

Hard to know - I have met him and like him as a bloke.

Played in 4 premierships with the Hawks

Coached Brisbane Bears reserves to the Premiership in 1991 (that has gotta be a fair accomplishment given how bad the Bears were)

Took Swans to a GF in his first year.

Three prelim finals at the Bulldogs.

I would be happy with Rocket except he has run out of fuel.

Although he has had a shocking year with injuries to his gun players(of which the blame could be attributed to him for too early returns) he has looked spent all year.

If he was invigorated I would change my mind.

Considering on analysis that his back 6 were virtually non existant this year from last couple of years....

Harbrow - Gold Coast

Lake - Investment snag; unfit; rehabilitation record from operation(s); not 100% commitment.

Hargrave - Injured most of season; in and out of side

Williams -

Morris - } collectively the two that played more footy than the others; had their work cut out.

Gilbee - In and out; a mystery - see Lake.

...it's no wonder Eade looked spent. Not to mention Cooney's knee problems, Higgins continued problems and injuries, form. But their back 6's non-stability has crippled them by filling it with putty throughout with the likes of Stack, Hill, etc.

Another coach without a defensive side to his gameplan? No thanks.

Bulldogs are always ranked 15-17 for tackles inside 50,contested posession and turnovers inside D50.

The game has moved to a more defensive strategy and Eade didn't move with it.

Certainly not my first choice but I wouldn't be shattered if we got him.

However if we did pick up an experienced coach who hadn't won a premiership I'd prefer Laidley or even bring Northey back!

11:40 press conference. Eade finishing up - "Parting Ways"

Eade had requested that the Bulldogs bring forward their decision.

Made a presentation to the Dogs board last Thursday regarding the future.

No longer require his services after 7 years and a treble of PF's.

Rocket has probably brought it forward because on the rumour file this morning it said that G. Lyon has been in contact with him.

2 things...

- As Akermanis said in his stupid little video on the Herald Sun website, Eade has shown he is a good coach and will get a team from A to B.

It's getting from B to C that Eade has trouble with (winning that premiership). That, and trusting people - sounds like he is a micromanager / control freak.

As with anything Aker says, if you remove the egocentric bullsh%t and be mindful of his wide-ranging vendettas, he actually is fairly well informed about goings on and about the game.

I think most of this is valid. The question then becomes, do we want to hire Eade for a couple of years, in the full knowledge that we might need to remove him at the end of his contract in favour of another coach who can take them further?

- Scott West is currently an assistant coach. I understand that he was quite unhappy with the way his career ended. Possible bad blood?

I'm not sure about Eade's relationship with Brian Royal.

Of course, a new coach coming in would probably choose a completely new coaching staff, but if we hired Eade and he were to retain any, I wouldn't bet on West being one of them.

*That is, if you rate West as a coach. I don't think any supporters are generally well-informed enough to make that judgment.

I don't hate the idea of getting him, but i'm not sure whether he'd be exactly the right fit for us.

If we were to go for an inexperienced coach he'd be an excellent mentor to have at the club.

I like Rocket but no.

He's had 13 years at two clubs. He's had his time and his chances. His teams have been poor defensively and I see no reason why we should give him a chance to reinvent a gameplan.

As a micro-manager / control freak?

I'm not so sure.

I can't remember exactly what was said, but Gary Lyon didn't seem to keen on Eade on FC Monday night.

I wouldn't say he did not seem keen the panel was discussing whether they felt Eade should be renewed as Bulldogs coach, Garry asked Grant Thomas your quite strong on coaches being sacked do you think Eade is right for the dogs, Thomas was going through how he felt Eade was the right man for the job and said he had a lot to offer, at this stage he said well Garry would you want him as coach of Melbourne if he was available. Caro piped in with well Garry and Hutchy had that smug look on his face and Garry's exact words in his immediate response were "I am not commenting on Melbourne I am asking about Eade and the coaching role at the Bulldogs"

Can't see where the he didn't seem keen on Eade comes from that, but everyone has a different perception

What the hell's going on down there at the kennel?

They sack their coach, he's going to be a lame duck for the rest of the season and there's talk of an opposition group wanting the president's head. The media should be all over the trouble at the Bulldogs but they seem to be giving them an absolute free ride.

I'm pretty happy with the contrasting results - we're relevant.

Nobody cares about the dogs enough to whip it into a media frenzy.

Any publicity is good publicity.

Yep. Every time you look at what's happening at the Bulldogs, there are similarities to what's happened at Melbourne this year.

No doubt a lot of factors are involved but one must stem from having unrealistically high expectations from your playing group.

Mind you, I would expect better than a 186 point defeat at Skilled.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
