I concur that the Scully issue will be put to bed come October. I fail to see however how the TS issue is dwarfed by other happenings and concerns at our beloved club.. Id put it right up there amongst the most pressing.

Pressing? Yes. But distracting? Lets hope not.

Only do some of the supporters feel this way.

The state of his knee injury is more important to me.

I am assuming you are being sarcastic.

You are the one bringing the rest of the team as being distracted - and the club 'diminished' - not me.

It is an absolute cop-out to say that the Tom Scully Saga © is distracting this poorly led team.

Another excuse for this team is the last thing they need.

Yes sarcasm.

I brought up that the TS saga was distracting the team, raised it in the context of one percenters that all clubs are looking to address, and never said there were not bigger causes of our under performances this year. I assumed that they would be addressed in other threads...

To say it is an "...absolute cop-out to..." then referring to the leader ship is simply an attempt to silence debate by 1. over stating my comment and then

2. referring to an issue beyond the topic of this thread (i.e. leadership).

Then you try to push the topic away by implying I'm further weaking the team by offering a "excuse"...

Phew, I guess from you elaborate defence that your position is that the TS saga has no detrimental effect on the team...

To which, I disagree

You know what I hate about the Tom Scully Saga © (to borrow rpfc's term)..?

It is like a black hole, in that posters gravitate toward it, and it sucks the energy of many a poster into it's nothingness.

The group of Scully threads have effectively eliminated the majority of intelligent conversation that generally occurs on this forum.

Instead, we have a vehicle for trolls and considered posters alike, to endlessly argue in circles until most have lost interest, and the remaining few fight it out to be last one standing.

It's a war of attrition.

Now this is a post I couldn't agree more with. I don't reckon I've ever been as bored with Demonland or visited less frequently than I have in the last few months. The Saga has literally sucked the life out of this forum and it's sucked the life out of me. I once had strong views on this topic but my energy levels have dropped such that I can't feel anything other than apathy. And I don't think I've written any posts longer than one or two lines for ages.

Clint Eastwood and Serge Leonie would sort it out real quick....or even better Sam Pekenpah....5 minutes!! demon_cool.gif

Well, I guess we have both missed what we are saying...

I believe that whatever detrimental effect the Tom Scully Saga has on this team does not supersede in importance more pressing concerns.

And that the 'distraction' of having constant rumours flying about is not enough of an issue to warrant the blame for this season that you are tacitly attributing Tom.

And the best we can hope for this season is to scrape into a humiliating defeat in an Elimination final in Perth so the '1 percent' argument falls flat when one realises that it will only affect 2011, and 2011 has already been put to death by our lack of available talent and poor onfield leadership.

Your position relies on the TSS to be a distraction - I say if it is, it is small and it is irrelevant.

Calling Rpfc a troll is uncalled for. His heart is in the right place.

But I would challenge that he has copyright on the term 'saga' when referring to this matter. Sounds like a Range Rover-ism to me.

Velocity Sports have done their client proud & an added bonus for delaying the decision. All in writing and all in public.

I never thought it was possible, but my ego gave out long ago...

All but a special few have over the course of the last 20 weeks beaten themselves into submission.

Apathy and resignation are knocking at my door.

I'm not sure what you're on about.

Apathy and resignation in terms of contributing to this thread, and the forum in general, for now.

Not in terms of support for the club or keeping Scully.

I'm not a religious man, and there are few things I have irrational faith in, but for now the MFC is one of them.

you agrreeing or otherwise ?? lol

I actualy think the TS 'thing' is more multifaceted ( than some suppose ) and has quite many bearings on the club going forward.

There are issues with the list, with coaching , with the FD etc. .and TS is right up amongst it all.

And it is a puff piece with nothing of note, because there is nothing of note. GWS has had no impact in Sydney's west other than amusement factor.

The four league clubs mentioned, while they aren't having great years on the field (Parra are killing me), they are still the power base and nothing the AFL is doing is going to change that.

I live in the north west and my dad works in Penrith (one of the clubs mentioned), and does a lot of work for the local junior leagues (which are massive) and they aren't losing kids

(or teens or young adults) who want to play AFL, they aren't losing money to GWS sponsors and the Panthers still dominate the town both financially and with playing stocks.

Well written QueenC . This post should be mandatory reading for everyone, inclduing AFL leadership, and then shut down this thread. If Tom goes he is going to oblivion, if he stays gerat for us.

I cannot still believe this GWS team has any legs. Has Demetriou ever lived in Sydney let alone been to the West. This process is the greatest waste of money since I don't know what and the AFL is tantamount to negligent in the matter from a business persepctive. Fortunately I'm not a shareholder.

Good luck to TS whatever he chooses.

Now, fellow posters, can we move on from this issue - it will resolve itself in the fullness of time - we are a team, one player does not win or lose a premiership!

I put it to you that a good coaching panel and a group of players who want to play for MFC is far more critical to winning a premiership than any other single factor.

Here endeth the lesson of age, experience and success!

Maybe because there's about 6 weeks to the end of the season & we've failed to even put a dent in his wait till the end year statement.. Trade week anyone?

*Where has everyone gone???

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
