I think some of his kicks look like poor kicks, but tend to still hit the mark.

He did end up joint-winner for the kicking skills test at draft camp, from memory.

Wow, I didn't know that. He's always struck me as being an ordinary kick to the point where I yell 'handball!' every time he gets it.

For the first time in years we beat the Saints in clearances, tackles and contested possessions, yet we still lost because we made too many crucial errors.

There were times when our ball movement was first class and a new option for the Dees is using Watts as the 'go to' man in the middle because of his 90% disposal efficiency rate.

If Evans was a first round draft pick, we'd be raving about his great first game. He reminds me of Scully with his ability to get the ball. We forget that he wasn't even our first pick in the rookie draft.

Good to be reading a positive thread rather than the doom and gloom everywhere else.

Evans was very impressive on debut, any debutant that gets his hands on it 27 times and lays 5 tackles gets a big tick. I actually also reckon he would've had to do more with Tappy going down early so congrats to him.

We looked harder and hungrier than last week, we fell down in skills but as long as I see them having a crack I can take something from it.

Watts is continuing to build as a footballer as is becoming influential on the match. Football smarts are starting to show, and is using his body more.

Gysberts, currently my favorite player. Keeps getting better, he could really take off once he gets some backup.

Unfortunately we have regressed back to "taking every little positive", but expectations should be scaled until the cavalry returns. The one positive I can take from the upcoming run is that we don't really have much to lose, so we might as well play as positively as we can.

Do you get that view in his 4th game or his 6th game?

The positives all have to do with the performances of individual players. Gysberts, Evans, Martin, Watts, Jetta, and Maric all put in games that were near to or better than their best games up till then, and they all did much better than expected; Jones and Sylvia were not far off their best either, and a number of others (McKenzie, Frawley, Bartram, Warnock, Moloney) made solid contributions.

His 4th...nah, take it easy - it's just a reaction I have when he gets the ball. Some players have that effect, maybe he just looks a little awkward. Does anyone have his kicking efficiency stats thus far?

If we had a few more that played with his ferocity and aggression and tenacity,,,, we might be on the way, that former young melbourne sides from the middle of ther last century took, on their way to success. Bleed for the Jumper.

Not to mention add Jamar, Scully, Trengove, In form Morton, In form Mckenzie, Tapscott, Grimes, Garland, hopefully Blease, maybe even Howe or Nicholson. It's going to be ok it's just shite at the moment. I hope Jimmy has Roos and malthouse on speed dial.

Exactly, there's alot of talent we have to get on the Park together. I think well have a strong run home this Year.

#PS: I'm not a Morton fan... ;)

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
